When a 12 year old black girl is raped, beaten and almost murdered by two racist, redneck pigs, the little girl's father shoots both of them dead whilst they are being taken to trial.

He committed murder, he is as guilty as sin and nobody believes otherwise.

On the contrary in fact, the main question in this film is whether a black man should be allowed to take vengeance against whites.

Indeed, having based the defendant's entire case on the lie that he was 'temporarily insane,' the killer's attorney spells out this fact at the end of the film by asking the jury to imagine the little girl's attack and then asking "NOW IMAGINE SHE'S WHITE."

Throughout the film, the community is divided between ... Read More:

There are a million and one copies of 101 dalmations,Aladdin but no Lion King because no1 wants to part with it, its a Quality film that i will love forever.

The film starts off with great promise - the early scene at a commune with two group leaders putting on a stage show for the kids - Star Wars instead of Shakespeare! This brings humour and humanity in the very early stages. You get a sense of the warmth and the protective responsibility these people have for the children. The community `motto' about always watching the skies is a jarring reminder that there's a horror to this film.

Within minutes you care about the community and feel genuinely very concerned for them, and the arrival of gung-ho Americans upsets the balance. Unfortunately the vulnerability of the community and the feeling of concern isn't recreated throughout the rest of the film - the focus turns to big guns and action.

We found this DVD set very enjoyable - well worth the money! History is brought to life by focusing on pivotal characters, and the events unfold through their eyes. This is great, especially for children, as it turns what they would normally describe as 'dusty-old-history' into an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Cold Blood - Series 1 - Matthew Kelly as the cold-blooded serial killer could be cunning, manipulative, charming and intelligent one minute; and positively terrifying the next! You never knew what was really going on in his mind from one minute to the next. When he was on screen, you could not take your eyes off of him! He was a very complicated character who was also fascinating to watch!

Jemma Redgrave gave a wonderful performance as the detective who stood up to this cunning and cold-blooded serial killer. She was a very brave and intelligent character, yet still managed to show a soft and feminine side. She made you care about what was happening to her and what she was thinking. It must be really frightening for a woman to go into a room with a serial ... Read More:

GOD,this is a bad film,so disappointing to see the great mr allen churn out such dross,script-poor,acting-very poor,characters-unlikeable,the whole thing makes very little sense, even the stunning mrs johansson can't make it watchable, and just a side point jonathan rhys meyers, playing "a poor irish boy",presumably under direction, adopts an accent posher than any of the toff family he marries in to.i'm writing this as i watch the film and every scene confirms my opinion.

Basically, this IS a Death Wish for this decade - but it's still a cracking B movie, with an A budget!
It's tense, gripping and edgy with good performances and assured direction. There are some good set pieces including a brilliantly shot/edited chase on foot, and culminating in an extremeley violent shoot out, reminiscent of Taxi Driver (excellent FX as hands & legs are blown off). Kevin Bacon even descends into full Travis Bickle mode!
Something about this film reminds me of the underrated 1993 picture, Judgement Night - I guess it's the inner city locations and the criminal gang characters are similiar, reminding me of Hardcore Metal act, Biohazard.
A great little cameo role from John Goodman, as a sleazy gun dealer - yet again, reminiscent of Taxi Driver in the ... Read More:
