Series 3 is sort of uneven - three standout episodes that are strong enough to overwhelm the lazy, self indulgent strand running through all six. The main problem for me was that they brought to the fore those wonderful details that added unique texture in series 1 & 2. For example, crimping. Before crimping had a name, it was something that cropped up every now and then in a natural, brilliant sort of way. In series three there's an entire episode dedicated to crimping. Knowing it's something that can be taught, can be practiced and even copied just sorta cheapened it. The same goes for the Council of Shamen, and particularly Tony Harrison who's been transformed into a hard living drug fiend.

The other big problem is that ... Read More:

Why do I pay my licence fee to the BBC so that they can make this utter dross and drivel?? Can someone actually tell me why this is apparently funny? What is there to get??

They try to be surreal, but it's all been done before (Vic and Bob anyone?? The Goodies, Monty Python etc etc) and far better.

Noel Fielding is just about to disappear up his own backside, yep, there he goes, I spotted his hand waving as he went. As for the other bloke, I don't even know why he's in it. Does he??!

Nope, this is about as funny as having an ingrowing toenail taken off with no anasthaetic. Mind you, watching this mind-numbingly boring tosh might just negate the need for it!!

Rubbish indeed from a Russell Brand-alike. ... Read More:

I really like this story. As other reviewers have stated it's an Agatha Christie style mystery with the Doctor thrown in for good measure. I do feel that part 1 drags in places - how many shots of Adric stuffing his face or Tegan trying to dance do we really need. Luckerly things really do spped up in part 2. In fact they could have made it a 3 part story for better pacing.

As per usual Peter Davison, Sarah Sutton, Mathew Waterhouse and Janet Fielding provide a very entertaining commentry track. You can tell they do not like this story very much. It's nice to hear actors enjoying themselves rather than woodenly chatting about how great this scene or that actor was.

The extras are up to the high standard we have come to expect on ... Read More:

I heard Bob Mortimer describe the Mighty Boosh's comedy as "joyous" and immediately realised that thats what makes it SO good. You're just watching naturally funny people on the same wavelength having a laugh, with some surreal plots and crazy costumes thrown in...and its the best comedy you'll ever see.

It's not a particularly good comedy but it's a mustif like me you're a Liz Fraser fan. Liz and Joan Sims play a couple of exotic dancers. She has plenty of good scenes in it,as usual in these films from 1960 the producers wanted to accentuate Liz's sensational figure so expect plenty of bra and pantie scenes. The scene where she's on stage with the brilliant James Robertson Justice is fantastic. As it's a colour film Liz has never looked lovelier.

Julian Temple cinematic creation of the story of Wordsworth and Coleridge's tempetuous relationship is moulded in a curiously stark, black & white manner.
In Julian Temple's world, Wordsworth's creative talent is constantly wilting in the shadow of Coleridge's genius. Furthermore, his revolutionary sympathies are a dark betrayal of Coleridge, the genuine apostle of new-ageism and political egalitarianism. Wordsworth harbouring a burning desire to be the establishments' poet laureate and member of the wealthy status quo.
By contrast, sister Dorothy, brilliantly portrayed by Emily Woolf is a genuine subversive and free spirit and recognizes STC's genius as far and above her brother's quota.
Whether this portrayal is accurate is open to dispute but certainly ... Read More:
