What can I say about this 7 Oscar winner of 1962 that the other reviewers haven't said already? This is a wonderful film and a great epic that was directed by David Lean (Ryan's Daughter, Brief Encounter), he is probably one of the greatest filmmakers of all time and most of his films have some of the best cinematography you have ever seen taking advantage of the landscape. i must admit i put this film in the dvd player and my heart sank because its black/white,it does not tell you that in the information about the film.but when you start watching the film it soon puts you back in a good mood,henry fonda has that touch of class about him thats hard to resist,anthony mann directs another classic western he was probabley the best in the business and that includes the great john ford. fonda plays a bounty hunter who brings his prey in to collect the bounty,the young sheriff has just started the job and fonda can see that unless he is guided he will soon be dead,fonda shows the sheriff the ropes but declines an offer of a badge.its not long before trouble arrives for the sheriff ,will fonda help the sheriff or ride out ... This is one of Bronson's Masterpieces its as simple as tht it provided him with a role he would return to frequently, that of the cold blooded hit man. Just look at THE MECHANIC or THE EVIL THAT MEN DO. There is excellent sopport from Telly Savalas and Jill Ireland as the dumb blond with the heart of Medusa, manipulating all the male characters with obvious charms. And it features a great Morricone score and good extras!

Perhaps David Leans finest ever creation. This is my all time favourite film. Its somewhat historically defective but films are about more than just history they at times reflect a myth and sometimes even create a few of their own. Laurence of Arabia caputures perfectly the engigma that is Laurence. Like Lawrence himself this film has gone in and out of vogue - once seen as a story of a great man of Empire, later as a villain of imperialism the film is actually neutral and allows you to draw your own conclusions about Laurnece without making any crass, hysterical or self righteous observations. Its one of the few all star cast films that actually work thanks to the fantasticly strong direction and incredible editing of one of the finest ever ... Read More:

An all time classic and more of course & a long film yes but just Brilliant!!. If you enjoyed watching this film and find yourself watching it over and over again then you MUST see Ralph Fiennes in the sequel to this film called "A Dangerous Man - Lawrence After Arabia" on VHS. A rare and hard film to get a hold of but worth every penny.
