It's really virtually impossible not to like a movie with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson in it.. they add a sense of gravitas to anything they are in - and there is pleasure to be had in watching their contrasting styles spark off each other.
Here, the play two men, both suffering from cancer, sharing a room at a hospital (in a rather contrived set up). After some preamble to fleetingly show that they are actually not well, they create a bucket list - a list of things they want to do before kicking the bucket, and since one of them is rich, set out to work their way through the items, learning about themselves and each other as they go.
It works because the leads are strong, particularly Freeman. Nicholson overplays, but then ... Read More:

In the 5th Batman film, director Christopher Nolan brings a very dark side out of the superhero and explores how Bruce Wayne became Batman in this wonderful fantasy, and my personal favourite Batman thus far.

Nolan uses a very sophisticated choice of direction to bring out the traumas of Wayne's past in a great use of flashbacks, so unexpected and diverse which is what the franchise needed, not to mention the writing is top notch by going darker than all other films in the series created.

The direction fits beautifully alongside a consistent plot. Though I was lost at a couple of turns with the involvement of many characters, the plot is solid and fits the genre beautifully with the use of the escapism of realism, such are the action ... Read More:

Great action movie with some super action scenes. James McAvoy is perfectly cast as the loser of a main character, Angelina does her mental thing very well, and Morgan Freeman says "M*therf*cker". Great soundtrack.

If you liked the Transporter movies, or Crank, or Shoot Em Up, (or any John Woo film) then you'll love this.

The Shawshank Redemption is a warming tale of the human spirit, friendship and justice. Like so many great films this has been adapted from a Stephen king novel.

The official category is of a prison drama but in my opinion this sells the film short. The prison only provides the backdrop for the heart warming story of humanity that unfolds. The story could be set anywhere. The escape from prison could be a metaphor for any situation which requires courage and strength to escape from, and the friendship and positivity between the two lead characters could build under other circumstances.

Like so many other reviewers I find this film hard to criticise. The narration by Morgan Freeman nudges the story along beautifully, the casting is perfect and the film is paced ... Read More:

This Batman film just shows that the who idea still works. Quite frankly, after the Michael Keaton/Val Kilmer/George Clooney efforts I was beginning to have my doubts.

Sure, there are one or two places where this film may be a bit slow, but on the whole I think that even those patches serve the purpose of explaining how Batman became Batman ... i.e. why the Bat bit. As always the gadgets are brilliant, the one liners excellently delivered and Batman's escapes truly unbelievable - in other words a proper Batman film!

Christian Bale is excellent as Batman, and Michael Caine just about perfect in the role as Alfred the butler - in fact, when I win the lottery and have to hire my own butler Michael Caine will be top of my list of candidates!!

In short this is a very ... Read More:

Seven is a masterpiece of the horror/thriller genre and it should be treated with such respect.
The ever-twisting and unfolding plot keeps the audience in a state of limbo and constant tension - it's like you're in a headlock and you can't get out.
Fincher has the right combination of gore, drama and tension mixed in with anticipation at every turn.
This film is not to be missed by any fan of the horror or thriller genre.
