Series five of peep show continues on from where series four left off and builds the story nicely but at the same time there is a wee drop in form here that means the show loses its consistency for perhaps the very first time.
The series starts well but falls a little with a puerile feel to it at times that beggars the belief that is a brilliantly written show, some of this feels wrong, the episode with the australian lodger being average to say the least, the laughs are still here and there but not everywhere, and that again is a new development.
The story arc here is good though and of the six episodes i would state that 4 are still gold with two maybe drowning in childish antics that arent worthy of these two great characters, still ... Read More:

Best show on television. Easily surpasses any mediocre sitcoms or comedy shows of the past decade.

You will wonder what all the fuss was about with The Office, The Mighty Boosh, etc.

Roll on the sixth series.

Simply some of the best comedy writing of the last ten years. I think this is the only sitcom DVD I've ever watched more than once - I've watched this again and again.

Can't recommend highly enough!

Sketch shows have a rich British tradition, The Fast Show, Harry Enfield And Chums, dating all the way back to Monty Python. However, first season aside, Little Britain heralded a different brand of sketch show, a lowest-common-denominator, catchphrase-and-gross-out based style. This predictability removes the one thing which made shows like Monty Python in particular great, namely the unpredictability. The whole point of a sketch show isn't to have recurring characters every week, but to just spent a couple of minutes in each little world and then move onto something totally different. That Mitchell And Webb Look restores this balance, reviving sketch shows as they were originally intended.

This is not to say that there aren't recurring characters ... Read More:

This is Lear in a completely different light from any other version, I think that much can be guaranteed. Whether or not you like it probably depends on how orthodox you are in terms of Shakespeare, but as for me, I find I prefer this version to, say, the much praised Michael Hordern one. This is lean, mean Lear, stark and brooding and focusing very much more on the psychology than on outwardly events. I find that I think of it as the essence of the play. It's intense, even intrusive in its psychological examination of the characters, and the title role is made even more demanding because of it. Only an actor of Scofield's calibre could pull it off, and he does so in what must be the greatest performance of his film career.

I found this to be a brilliantly funny movie - not just were Mitchell & Webb superb but the whole cast shone.

I think the film suffered from very poor promotion (I'd certainly not heard of it until I was Googling M & W one day)

Great story, acting, and direction. And to my mind the end shot, when combined with the haunting soundtrack, is the most beautiful ever to have been comitted to film - imo.

I had high hopes for this, but was slightly disappointed. There are some great actors and comedians in this, including those who have featured in great shows such as Allan Partridge, the office, Peep show and the Royal family. However, I was put off at the start by the revolting and never funny, only nasty, Jimmy Carr, ultimately just playing himself.

The story line and "mockumentory" style of fliming is promising but doesn't quite deliver. I felt the film couldn't quite decide if it was a comedy, a romance or even a drama. Yes, there were funny moments, (the nose job gone bad is a classic example) but there were also some touching and uncomfortable moments which detracted from the comedy.

Overall, it's qite decent, but it's not a classic comedy and is instantly forgettable
