Although i agree with of the 5 star reviews (gripping story, superbly acted, nice pace,...) i'll stick with a 4 out of 5 for one main reason: at certain points in the series it annoyed that i could see through the concept and feel that it was it built according to a "formula". This could be in little details like choice of shots of the director, the presentation of plot changes,...

Just like blockbuster formats, Damages sometimes feels just a little too much like it was created with just too much marketing in mind.

It is because of this that i have to rate it below shows that could overcome this issue and just feel just more 'real', like -for me- The Sopranos, Shield,...

Show is great though, just not a new Sopranos

28 Days Later was a great film and was a cute reminder of how basic we could be; Creme De Menthe and candles, Budgens booze counter, say no more. As for the film, great! To film London deserted was a feat in itself. The storyline was conventional (zombies/virus), but the way it was portrayed was exceptional. As for 28 Weeks Later, well, it was definitely a follow-on, but with it's own twist. The ending being the destruction of Europe by those saved at all costs was good. Will we see a third film..? Watch this space.

This film brought home to me why I pay my TV licence (reference to the BBC and good period drama's), as a period drama it was completely unbelievable, whether it was the American accents, or modern dialogue, or may be even the modern sound track, it just doesn't work.
With regards to the story line, the only good thing I can say about this film is, that it left so many unanswered questions that I had to spend longer on the internet finding out what actually happened, than I did watching the film. Then I realised how much was just skipped over giving a completely false impression of Marie and the current situation.

It is the year 2057. The sun is about to peter-out in about 50years. A mission was sent seven years ago to reignite the sun; the ship disappeared. Now a new mission and last chance.

We are now introduced to the standard crew mix over the obligatory eating scene. The mission is reviled. We learn of each person's personality and quirks. And it takes a long slow time. (For people with Blu-ray you can fast-forward with sound on, it does not sound Mickey Mouse.) Soon we find the fate of the previous ship. We also suffer from an accident caused by miscalculation. Will these mishaps jeopardize the mission and the human fate?

The film is a tad slow probably by design and there are lots of flashy visuals. Many look like they ware borrowed from "Solaris" (2002.) ... Read More:

This is a hugely enjoyable, stylish, witty retelling of the Casanova story. As it was written by Russel T Davies it goes without saying that the script is fabulous and the story cracks along at a wonderful pace. David Tennant is utterly faultless as a funny, likeable and very human Casanova, quite unlike the roistering, wham-bam beefcake image of Casanova we've been used to. A total triumph. You must buy this.

I love this film, it's everything I want in a movie and it's shot so well. Don't watch this film if you're going to analyse every last scientific detail, I don't think people who do that enjoy films all that much anyway to be fair. Good characterisations, although one or 2 do seem to be missed out. A damn good sci-fi film, you get a real feel of isolation (as has been mentioned before) a lot like in Alien.

This film faithfully follows the story of Dodie Smith's beautiful and sometimes painful novel, but cannot capture its magic or the lyrical narrative which is so important (and what is really successful) about the novel. Read the book first, then enjoy this film for the pictures!

This film is brilliant - i loved every second and have watched it at least once a month for the last year.....wow that sounds sad but it's just so good! Most love stories and romantic films leave me bored and irritated but this one is different - it's complex and ultimately hopeful. Plus of course there is the beauty of Josh......and the sound track is great too.
