All the other reviews I have seen are by people who are either utterly fascinated by the movie, or who state their opinions on the different versions. Perhaps I stand out, but I don't really care about previous versions, and more importantly, did not find the film enjoyable at all.

I may be and outsider here: I didn't attempt to look at the theme, the execution or anything. I just rented a movie, hoping to be entertained and possibly given something to think about. And for entertainment purposes, this isn't very good unless you are actually into sci-fi. It's quite confusing, and the story wasn't very engaging. It might just be too heavy, and requires too much commitment for me to feel it was worth the attention on a friday night.

DVD : Merlin [1998]
Having only just watched this film for the first time last night I was intrigued to see what others had written about it because for me it was a real mixed bag. To my shame I didn't really know the story of Merlin and King Arthur etc so was interested to watch from a factual point of view and my toddler did get up in the middle of it all and wandered about making lots of noise so it was difficult to follow everything (must watch again) but the story was really really good, very gripping and some of the acting was excellent particulary from Jason Done (who again to my shame I have never heard of) who played Mordred, King Arthur's illegitimate child and he brought a real edge and genuine comedy to the film. I personally wasn't keen on Miranda Richardson ... Read More:

I think this Blu Ray Final Cut edition was a superb addition to my collection. This is certainly different enough to buy again if you have any of the other versions on DVD. The HD really added to the feel of the city, and as I had not watched it for a few years now, the new cut made it feel almost like a different movie. If you have not seen it before, highly recommended, and if you haven't seen it in years worth a revisit!

It seems like overkill. A five disc box set focused on a single film. Six different versions of the original film, plus an exhaustive array of extras - documentaries, commentaries, out-takes, interviews, concept art, screen tests. Surely only obsessives and the professionally interested could possibly want all this?

But this isn't like other dvd sets. No dull, half-baked `documentaries' that tell you nothing more than star A thinks director B is a great director, Director B thinks star A is a top chap, and everyone thinks the guy who deputy managed Computer Effects Team C did a super job. No commentaries by extras that appear on screen for all of ten seconds. What you get here is a magnificently put-together Blade Runner archive, an exhaustive ... Read More:

I watched the original 'Goal' movie last year, and thought even that was pushing it a bit.. Newcastle training behind some sort of old mansion, Alan Shearer demonstrating personality (it must only come out in films), and of course, the inevitable winning goals from Nunez, which you could predict before the game even started. So I gave Goal 2 a go and see if the formula had changed. It hasn't.
This is basically just the first film set in Spain. Munez meets up with his annoying cockney mate 'Harris' who loves life off the pitch rather than on it (I guess thats well spotted for these days). The 2 pair up at Real Madrid after, tieing in with reality, the move of Owen to Newcastle, making it appear as a swap deal.
And so it all un-ravels - he comes on a sub a few ... Read More:

This Batman film just shows that the who idea still works. Quite frankly, after the Michael Keaton/Val Kilmer/George Clooney efforts I was beginning to have my doubts.

Sure, there are one or two places where this film may be a bit slow, but on the whole I think that even those patches serve the purpose of explaining how Batman became Batman ... i.e. why the Bat bit. As always the gadgets are brilliant, the one liners excellently delivered and Batman's escapes truly unbelievable - in other words a proper Batman film!

Christian Bale is excellent as Batman, and Michael Caine just about perfect in the role as Alfred the butler - in fact, when I win the lottery and have to hire my own butler Michael Caine will be top of my list of candidates!!

I saw this film many, many years ago and remember really liking it. I spontaneously bought the dvd recently but found watching it again a lot less appealling.
Even though I enjoyed the story and some scenes were acted really well, the execution let it down at times, i.e. I really hated the soldiers' sparkling new and bright uniforms, they looked really unrealistic and out of place. I also found that Michelle Pfeiffer was a disappointing cast for Isabeau who was supposed to be the most beautiful woman of her time who enchanted a lot of men. However, Pfeiffer with short hair looked just boyish to me and not very beautiful at all (very unlike any later roles).
I also disliked the soundtrack, often music in films passes me by but I actually thought a few times that the eighties ... Read More:

This movie has always been one of my big favorites. The story is fantastic and it is a very thrilling movie. The actors are great, especially Alan Arkin and Rutger Hauer. You get really attached to the prisoners and its very exciting to follow them from when they start planning to escape and to the day they do it. This movie is a classic, like "The great escape" and "Schindler's list". A must for every movie-lover!

One of them must be "Blade Runner in its many varied and excellent versions. This film is what sci-fi is all about. Instead of wasting time on gratuitous blood squirting, the story is much deeper with not only a message but a question.

"Early in the 21st century, the Tyrell Corporation advanced Robot evolution into the Nexus phase - a being virtually identical to human - Known as `Replicant.'"...Replicants were used Off-world as slave labor ...Replicants were declared illegal on earth ...Special police squads - Blade Runner Units - had orders to shoot to kill ..."

This was not called execution.
It was called retirement.

The film from beginning to end is treated with an overlay of original musing by the renowned Vangelis. In many films music can be ... Read More:
