This was a brilliant film. Totally fantastic. I cannot fault anything about it except.... that whilst the first half of the movie was action packed, funny, and sexy, the second half seemed to loose some of this excitement. It carried on being very good but I was much more on the ball with the first half. I cannot actually believe this was based on a true story. How amazing that they got so far and no one was any the wiser!

If I had wanted a documentary about Bletchley Park during WW2, I would have bought one of several good titles available, or a DVD if there was one.

Want I wanted, and got, was a really good fictional account set around the code breaking activities of that centre. The story is loosely based on real characters and events, but it is a STORY, and a very enjoyably told and terrifically acted one. I like all the actors, they work well together. The story is plausible, but I'm not interested in 'is this or that detail correct', I just want a good hour or two of entertainment set in the period of WW2, around that unique institution, and I was well satisfied.

I cannot understand why people have to nitpick. Its not as if anyone ... Read More:

This movie is well written, action packed with a bit of light hearted comedy to keep it from getting too heavy. This movie carries on with the tradition of Lock Stock, and a welcome return after the last few attempts. A couple of dodgy accents, but that's a very small issue. The film is in 2 parts, the first the robbery then as soon as that's done, then the action really kicks in. This film was digitally shot, and that makes it excellent on HD with superb picture and sound.

I like Sandler's comic movies as well as the next person but was astounded by his portrayal of a greiving husband and father...he truly surprised me. Think I cried, laughed and was horrified all in one sitting. I've bought this film for myself but also for people I like and know will get the message it sends. If you don't see it you'll have missed out. Pearl Jam theme is fab too!

I found this to be an interesting idea set in a very visually rich setting, the great mixture of the decrepit alleyways and steam driven 1950s cars, hard bitten disillusioned coppers, moody lighting and underlying police state paranoia, made for an entertaining 90 mins. I agree with a couple of other reviews that the tone is a little sombre and the performances are decidedly understated but overall a good film with more than a passing nod to george orwells 1985 and underworld, but with a character all of its own, well worth watching.

I remember watching this film when it came out, and was absorbed by the suspense and surprise, yet random 'deaths' that occurred throughout. In typical fashion, I lent it off a mate at school, who I'm sure we all knew one, had dad who was a bit dodgy... and had the pirate copy on VHS. It was a big talking point, and we all laughed over various parts of the film.

Unfortunately, I personally don't think the film is half as good second time round. I'm sure it's not just me now that i'm older, but it seemed the more I tried to take it all in, the less convincing it all is. Sammy L Jacksons grand killing scene is only good enough for a snigger, whereas I remember my mum jumping out of her skin originally. Even the CGI hasn't aged well, leaving the sharks ... Read More:

Not exactly worshipped by the critics on release, Reign Over Me is actually a pretty good movie with excellent performances from both Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler. The nicely paced storyline involves a plot based on communication, or lack of it, between Sandler and his now detached persona following the loss of his family in one of the 9/11 plane crashes, and between Cheadle and his wife whose relationship is failing on a more basic level of communication. Spotting his old college roommate Charlie (Sandler) on the streets one day sparks a new mission in Alan Johnson's (Cheadles) life as the two gradually renew their friendship and slowly regain the ability to deal with their issues. Very good support is provided by Jada Pinkett Smith, Liv Tyler, Saffron Burrows and (all ... Read More:

Everyone who has seriously rated this movie [references to the bible and life changing nobel prize winning appart ;-) ] agrees it is an excellent movie. The only thing I can add is that I wish this movie would be re-released as an anamorphic widescreen DVD or in HD. As was usual many years ago, DVD encoding companies had no idea how to properly encode video to work well on 4:3 (old style) TVs and 16:9 (widescreen) TVs as really there were few to no widescreen TVs available and reading an obscure bit of the encoding manual was really optional at that time. This release has huge black bars top and bottom as the 2.35:1 ratio is fitted into a 4:3 screen space. If the choice was between this format and cropping then I would take this format any day, but a budget re-release as 2.35:1 ... Read More:
