As you can tell from the other people's reviews this movie is brilliant!!
But what is not said (at least I don't think so! I didd'nt read all 100+ reviews!) is the picture quality! i'm using a Toshiba 47" 1080i LCD HDTV with a PlayStation3 with HDMI connection.

For a DVD it's got AMAZING detail! I'm surprised they managed to fit this 3 hour film with this quality onto a DVD!! I have a collection of around 500 DVDs & this must be in the top 5 of best picture quality in my selection!

Buy it! you won't regret it! (or wait for the Blu-ray)

How can I communicate the aberration that this represents?
I hope that a number of you will be repelled simply to hear that the roles of Hermia and Helena are taken (and then forgotten about) by those mascots of "Pretty but Pointless", Calista Flockhart and Anna Friel. Calista Flockhart rides a Penny Farthing bicycle and blows the tumbling tendrils of hair off her forehead regularly - but it gets worse, even when the talent gets more accomplished.
Stanley Tucci would get laughed off a senior school stage for the way that he tries to invest Puck with thoughtfulness and fun: Jimmie Krankee would have done a better job. Rupert Everett's Oberon is reminescent of a Studio 54 Go-Go dancer murmuring something he has a distant memory of, and Kevin Kline's gurning ... Read More:

I've watched this film at least 10 times. It's simply hilarious. It's not actually taking the mickey out of Star Trek, rather a tribute to the actors who play in Star Trek. One of the funniest and definitely the most underrated comedy films out there. You need to watch this film a few times to catch all the jokes so it's a perfect DVD purchase. There are so many classic moments such as the captain getting his shirt ripped Captain Kirk style and the Klingon types in the toilet at the Trekkie conference.

This film is fantastic. It is beautifully shot and I was utterly captivated for the whole two and half hours. A lot of criticsm has been levelled at this film for being overly long and very slow. I don't entirely disagree. It IS long and it doesn't move at a great pace, but then does every film have to do that to make it good? No. This came out at the same time to 3.10 To Yuma, that film is a thrill ride from start to finish, but in twenty years time I know which one will be held up as the classic. The performances by Pitt, Affleck and Rockwell are outstanding, the narrator (whoever it may be?) suits the feel of the film brilliantly by speaking with a rather world weary inflection in his voice. The cinematography is second to none. In fact I like this film so much I'm off to watch ... Read More:

This is a GREAT MOVIE. The four turtle brothers certainly gave it their best in this first installment of the TMNT movie saga. The plot is realistic (well, for a movie that has giant mutated turtles in it), and is full of fantastic action sequences. I've spotted a few mistakes in the movie, but they aren't that noticeably. The costumes were pretty good for its time, and the puppet work was well done. The villain: Shredder was cool, and he reminds me of Darth Vader at times.
All in all this was a brilliant movie and I would definately reccomend it.

That's probably not a masterpiece, not even as good as the radio show. But it is good. The main handicap for this film is that everything that was pure imagination on the radio show has to become visible, visual, hence no longer requiring the audience's imagination but satisfying their visual curiosity. Then of course this film has to use visual surprises and visual absurd hiatuses or oxymora. Thus the main character has to be in his pajamas all along since he was "captured" in them. A little bit skimpy for long distance travelling. Then I must admit they did a tremendous job at finding incongruous and funny situations even if some of them are trite, like being master-minded by plain mice, though they look cute our masters in their little fragile beings, and all the more fragile when they are ... This one stars Nicholas Cage, not over acting quite as much as usual, as a con man with obsessive compulsive disorder who attempts to forge a relationship with a fourteen year old daughter he's never seen before. The daughter is played by Alison Lohman, who turns out to be a real find - all perky and sweet and not your typical obnoxious teen, and this actress is very convincing despite apparently being in her early twenties. Watching the lonely and troubled con artist form a bond with this young girl as he teaches her to trick people out of their money was a genuine joy. When these two were together, Matchstick Men succeeded admirably in pulling me into its charming and gently humourous story.

I was enjoying this one quite a bit, right up to the point when the writers yanked the rug ... Read More:

Oh dear, how did they get it so wrong. Hitchhickers guide is one of the funiest and most origanal TV series/book trilogies (in 5 parts no less)/ and radio shows to ever grace this fair world so this should have been an easy film to make, and make well (it's already a TV series!!!!!!!!). Unfortunatly the film makers desided that removing all the wit in the film for poor quality slap stick and bad cameos would some how make a worth while film exsperience and a would appeal to the fans (a bunch so fanatical about mr Adamas work that they put trekies to shame) ...... they failed.

This is the least funny comedy I have seen, save for a few moments of genius where Mr Adamas work was actually used. Avoid this film and buy the TV series, book trilogy (in 5 parts) and origanl radio series instead
