Fantastic film but make sure your tv doesn't try and iron out the grain. That's how it is suppose to be.

I've always loved this film, I had it on tape for years. It's a great story, intelligent, with superb acting. Other reviews say it all

What did annoy me was that the DVD is two-sided. You have to watch half the film, then turn the DVD over to watch the other half. This isn't going to be enough to irritate everybody but it really irrited me, and I really wouldn't have bought it if I'd known about the format.

I'm the lazy type who likes to settle down, surrounded by food, and not get up again until the film is finished and there's no food left. Like I said, not going to bother everybody but still worth knowing.

This film is fantastic. It is beautifully shot and I was utterly captivated for the whole two and half hours. A lot of criticsm has been levelled at this film for being overly long and very slow. I don't entirely disagree. It IS long and it doesn't move at a great pace, but then does every film have to do that to make it good? No. This came out at the same time to 3.10 To Yuma, that film is a thrill ride from start to finish, but in twenty years time I know which one will be held up as the classic. The performances by Pitt, Affleck and Rockwell are outstanding, the narrator (whoever it may be?) suits the feel of the film brilliantly by speaking with a rather world weary inflection in his voice. The cinematography is second to none. In fact I like this film so much ... Read More:

I have always liked this film, I cannot really say why. Probably because it's the ultimate feel good film with a happy ending. Just the right thing to watch when you want to be cheered up without having to think too much.
It's funny, maybe a bit cheesy and predictable in places but I know, I will watch it again and again. Luckily the eighties outfits are not too over the top, for me this film still watchable nowadays.
I have to agree with a previous review though, the dvd is really cheaply done, it looks as if it was made in the eighties as well!

I have watched this film many, many times over the years and it's still as great as the first time I watched it. A superstar cast brings with it quality acting and a superb script. Don't think I've ever watched it without crying, so if you're a Steel Magnolias virgin, or coming back to it for a repeat viewing - be sure to have the tissues at the ready....
It also has one of my all-time favourite quotes, which is something I live by...
"I'd rather have one moment of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special" - simply beautiful!

Obviously if you like your no-brainer action car-chase movies, this isn't for you. If you want a simple story of lives and friendships, beautifully written and flawless performances, with depth and character - this is essential ... Read More:

When Stephen Dorff kills an intruder in his home he soon finds himself locked up in corrupt prison officer Harold Perrineau's unit where the yard doubles as a gladiatorial arena for the entertainment of the guards. The terrified family man has to learn to cope with the nightmare world of an American prison and sharing his cell with a notorious mass murderer (Val Kilmer).

Felon starts off as an excellent drama about the inherent problems in the American justice system. A generally non-violent man guilty only of defending his family against an intruder is locked up with rapists, murderers and gang members who are serving life and have nothing to lose. Immediately he is approached by Aryan brotherhood gang members and is regularly attacked by other inmates which is fairly ... Read More:

I was fortunate enough to see Days of Heaven on the big screen in the early 80s. Its stunning combination of landscape, image, sound and music was sheer sensory overload. Many people find the film's simple story lacking, but the familiar love triangle neatly encapsulates classical themes of love, desire, jealousy, murder and revenge. Traditionally these are foundations for epic tragedy, but Malick portrays the human story as insignificant within the eternal spiral of the universe. His obsession is to capture the momentous roll of day into night, the flourish and decay of the seasons and the gentle whisper of the breeze. Even the flutter of a single blade of grass has its own grandeur. The muted characters struggle for transitory life against these timeless forces. When jealousy escalates ... Read More:

'The Return' isn't so much a horror movie in my opinion as it is a sort-of supernatural mystery. The advertising was very misleading but the actual film itself I really enjoyed.

SMG does a brilliant job as the lead, capturing the emotion perfectly, and kept me entranced right until the very end.

A clever, thought provoking piece of cinema.
