I love the book, its well written with a great storyline.
The film however is completely terrible. Some of the worst acting ive ever seen, ridiculous direction and any of the bits that arent straight quotes from the book (which leaves little) are written awfully.
In all, I can't think of a film ive seen that ive hated this much.
I seriously recommend you don't see this, this includes if you are doing it for A-Level. It really doesnt help.

this movie is one of the best movie about the vietnam war along with deer hunter or full metal jacket
instead of making american the center of the story it tell the story of this local journalist forced to stay in cambodia and caught as prisonner by the kmer rouge ,it s a story about friendship ,about war and genocide
the picture is astounishly beautiful it s probably the best film on that subject and the music is quite into the drama

I saw the last 75% of this on TV and immediately knew I needed to buy it.
Being somewhat cautious of old films transferred to DVD, on delivery I set aside a few minutes to check the quality. Over two hours later, after also viewing the excellent 'making of' feature, I realised I had missed an important appointment. On ringing up to apologise and explain, ruffled feathers were instantly soothed when they knew it was Hopscotch that had distracted me.
It is light and warm, villans are suitably discomforted, but there is no violence, and almost no bad language either apart from the bad guy - Ned Beatty's 'Myerson', the CIA boss Matthau dislikes so much.
There are numerous subtle deft touches that one might miss on a first viewing; it is beautifully made, and ... Read More:

I saw an episode on TV then shortly after I bought this DVD, I was skeptical at first as this one didnt do quite so well as Masters of Horror and got a cruddy review to boot...anyway as it turns out Masters of Sci-fi is worth your time, Mick Garris delivers another good show.

An excellent film version with superb acting; it kept my class enthralled and led to lots of discussion on this unquestionably excellent play; but remember... it is a Hollywood version and not the play originally as envisioned and written for the stage by Williams. Comparing this with what should have been is highly revealing and is what will surely gain those extra marks in your A-level exam!

Despite what other critics have said, it remains untrue that Allen only discovered Bergman after the "early funny ones" and thus, flippantly decided to be profound. Long-term aficionados of the director will know that he was indulging in homage to the likes of Bergman, Godard and Fellini as far back as Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex, Sleeper, and Love & Death. However, whereas those films took certain elements from European cinema and turned them into satire, Allen would eventually begin to explore his own serious side with films like Interiors, Stardust Memories, Another Woman and September, before finally perfected his new found style with this glorious and morally oblique modern-masterpiece.

Crimes and Misdemeanours is a film that manages to move ... Read More:

This is a great DVD to pick up for such a cheap price you get two discs which include every series of Visionaries every made and it includes the complete scripts for every episode. After all this time you can still sit down and enjoy the great storylines of the visionaries I would highly recommend this DVD as it is a another one of the many great cartoons of the 80s. I honestly feel that this cartoon was one of the most under rated cartoons of the 80s and it is such a shame they only ever made one series of this great cartoon.

A fantastic plot, even allowing for the downright silly concepts of time and size. Or maybe NASA had had a budget cut?
Only kidding, but that's really what the film is about - 'What if there had been one screw-up too many'.
The plot is great, the scripting great, but....
It's the ending. It looks like the idea was rushed, bolted on due to lack of ideas or time, or replaces something else - a little like the ending from the theatrical release of Bladerunner, you know?
Ok, so Gould and Brolin race across the graves at Arlington (assuming that's where they are), and drop to slow-mo, as the press, the mourners, and the President to to look, not in slow-mo.
So, did Hyams run out of ideas, plot, money, or what? He gets it right in Outland, as the marshall takes a swing at the ... Read More:

David Puttnam, Roland Joffé, Chris Menges..... what a wonderful team whose individual creativity and collective synergy brought us two out-of-the-world pictures: "The Mission" & "The Killing Fields". Nothing to say about the former. Regarding the latter, the rich combination of such themes as ravages of war, power of friendship and unrequited loyalty makes it one of the powerful films in its genre and greatest films ever to have come out of the British cinema.

"The Killing Fields" takes us back to 1975s Phnom Penh, Cambodian capital, during which the communist guerrilla group Khmer Rouge led by Pol Pot seized the city, formed a new government and forced the dwellers to move to the countryside to work in collective farms and labor camps with the goal of restarting of civilization in "Year Zero". ...
