Not a great version, but as modern adaptions go, it's surprising how well Macbeth has been fitted to gangland. Film's superior ability to deliver action when compared with the stage is exploited to the full, and pretty good it is too. Hampered by quite a lot of mediocre (though seldom actually bad) delivery, yet on the physical level the acting is often compelling, especially from Lord and Lady Macbeth themselves. The play's frequent moral ambiguity sometimes seems out of place in the underworld, but perhaps that's just my own stereotypes creeping it. All in all worth a look, especially if you like Shakespreare in modern dress. I even bought a copy.

Needless to say, after having watched Black Water and now Rogue (very different - and very good - movies from the land Down Under) on consecutive days, I will not be planning any vacation in Australia's Northern Territory any time soon. Frankly, I don't understand why so many people who have no business wandering into "the wild" seem to enjoy taking wilderness cruises and seeing some of nature's most efficient killers for themselves. I learned all l need to know about crocodiles from Steve Irwin. Of course, the characters in this movie thought they were safe in their little tour boat, but I wouldn't trust the freakin' Love Boat in croc-infested waters - not salties, at any rate. Now I don't think Rogue is as intense or impressive as Black Water, ... Read More:

A must see film for all AC/DC fans. Like a lot of Australian comedies, this is quirky, original and really funny. The film follows a group of AC/DC fans from their teenage attempt at a band to years later when they've all moved on but come together when one of them dies and they decide to keep their teenage promise of burying them next to Bon Scott. Don't be put off by the depressing sounding plot, this is a great film with a great soundtrack that even non AC/DC fans (is there such a thing??) will find funny.

I am a huge fan of Bryan Brown. He is hillarious without even trying to be and a real larrikin. He is one of Australia's greatest exports. Even with the strong cast in the film, it is definitely his movie. Any fan of his will love this movie.

Brown plays "Barry". A sydney underworld crime figure who has the monopoly on the Pokie business in Sydney. He is powerful, greedy and street-wise. He has a deal with the local police boss to do whatever necessary to keep his business moving, as long as he keeps the violence of the streets and keeps paying his cut.

Enter two American gangsters who want a big slice of the action, bigger than what Barry believes they are entitled too. What follows is a tug-of-war between the two for ... Read More:

First Ozzie film i can say i've watched. Really good film clever and very funny. Is a little bit slow in getting started but once it has it's great.
All the acting is fantastic, never been a Timothy Spall fan but I am now.
Watch it, you'll love it.

I watched this movie with high hopes, as a friend had recommended it to me.
I became bored very quickly, i couldnt connect with the main character at all, she seemed to be just plain wierd, and then found myself waiting for something to actually happen.
When the end credits rolled, I felt empty and wondered what the point of the film actually was.
Fair play, the acting by all was rather good, especially the main male character Joe, but thats all I can muster as far as praise for this film.
How anyone could call this "haunting, bracing and intoxicating" is beyond me, its about as riveting as watching paint dry.
