The Brood was David Cronenberg's third feature release and the film that got him noticed outside Canada and the horror genre. With heavy weight actors Oliver Reed and Samantha Egger, Cronenberg's excellent script - Oliver Reed said it was the best written part he had had since The Devils - and a story more psychological than outright horror, though there are a few gory scenes, Mr Cronenberg was onto a winner. This is a film that stays with you long after the final credits have rolled. There are many influences playing through the film, the brood children are reminiscent of the 'dwarf' from Don't Look Now, Howard Shore's excellent strings only score a nod to Bernard Herrman's score for Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho.
The picture quality is okay for ... Read More:

this film in my opinion has had a good transfer to dvd and and man how i have waited so many years to collect it on dvd. no its not one of the greatest films ever made, but the feel of being in a different century is succesfull in this film. i dont like giving plots away so i will not. ethel le neve played by samantha eggar is a very fine performance whom i thought was convincing. its always difficult to analyse a performance when even the actor himself did not even meet the factual person he was playing and has to rely on his instincts. what was this man crippen like as human being?. donald pleasence has played this man as a rather sensitive creature who does not show his feelings so freely as other humans do. i have read books about crippen and pleasence ... For years, people have tried to bring Lee Falk's seminal jungle / superhero to the big screen, with no luck. This movie all but died in "development hell" several times, but you just can't keep a good Ghost-Who-Walks down!

Billy Zane was born to play this role, so it's a good thing that he's such a fan of the character (he "discovered" The Phantom in the late '80s while filming "Dead Calm" in Australia, where The Phantom is revered more than Batman is in the States). He brings the black & white / Good vs E-Ville sensibilities of the character to stunning life, & while he never takes it too seriously, he never makes fun of it either, which is a hard balance to achieve.

Treat Williams obviously had a cracking good time playing the ... Read More:

Weirdo collects butterflies, but wants romance...Great plot and film set in 60's.
Terrance Stamp should of become a major star like Michael Caine,he made some great movies in the sixties like Poor Cow.
In my top ten movies of all time, which includes Goodfellas,Peeping Tom,Odd Man Out.

Has an interesting if slightly unoriginal story, unfortunately there is little action of any kind, it slowly builds like a suspense thriller but seems to sizzle out, I suppose the end provides closure of some sort but it was disappointing.

This was Cary Grant's last film and is a fitting role for him, charming, good-humoured with a nice dose of physical comedy thrown in. He does what all the screen greats do: leaves you thinking that he was the only man who could possibly have played this role. Although, in this case, he probably was.

Walk Don't Run is one of those films that seemed to be churned out in the 1960s, a nice tight plot, a fine group of characters and some good laughs along the way all brought together with a good cast.

Grant plays businessman Sir William Rutland who turns up earlier than planned in Tokyo which is hosting the Olympic Games and, of course, there isn't a hotel room to be had. He ends up charming his way into the flat of a single girl until he can ... Read More:

This is a serious film about morality and social injustice and perhaps not surprisingly it flopped at the American box office in the 1960's. Set in the Pennsylvanian coalfields of the 1870's it revolves around two characters:Jack Kehoe, the leader of the Molly Maguires,a secret society dedicated to violently fighting the enormous exploitation that was the lot of the miners working in the coalfield; and James McParlan, who as the undercover agent for the Pinkerton Detective agency is prepared to shed all common notions of human feeling and loyalty in pursuit of a "higher" justice and more obviously his own American Dream
There is a strong cast including Frank Finlay and Samantha Eggar giving support to the two leading performances of Sean Connery and Richard Harris ... Read More:

10.The Exterminator [1980] starring: Robert Ginty, Samantha Eggar, Christopher George, Steve James, Tony DiBenedetto

"The Exterminator" certainly is worthwhile entertainment if you like the vigilante genre - otherwise most probably NOT. Whilst not as good as the "Death Wish" movies, Robert Ginty does give a good performance as former Vietnam vet John Eastland, who is moved to violence when his best friend is assaulted by a street gang and left paralyzed. Eastland then goes to war against all scumbags in the city.
What lets this film down is its surrealism that makes it so comic book at times. Some scenes seem staged, due to Glickenhaus's poor directing abilities. At times "The Exterminator" is ultra-violent but with some very cheap FX that appear laughable rather than shocking.
In overall a good B action film, very entertaining (but not for all tastes).
