Would I buy this box set on the strength of the films alone? I would say yes, but in the first two episodes George Lucas has bought everything to the screen except real characters that you want to follow. Seeing as this is a story of one, maybe two pivotal characters then that really is its undoing. The first two films are a mixed bag of spectacular effects full of cannon fodder robots, dull moments and awful voice overs. The third, is simply excellent, Revenge of the Sith recaptures the spirit of the original trilogy and gives it depth and tragedy, it really pulls all the parts together to give you a satisfying, yet expected conclusion.

The Phantom Menace :- Skip to the Pod Race and the final light sabre battle and you basically ... Read More:

Stop Anakin I have the higher ground yes but earlier we were jumping around like computer animated demented fleas!!!!!!!

Not my only complaint he killed a load of kids because he loved someone? hmm yes that didn't work

Yoda being a pansy who couldn't kill crap dracula Count Dooku then he got his arse kicked and ran away.

Forgive me but no wonder he started with episode four if the quality of writing on his previous efforts was this bad.

Suffice to say very disapointed also to say I bought the bloody thing still shame on me!!

This is an exhilarating film! It`s sci-fi but with a real feel-No two dimensional goody two shoes characters,no ridiculous sets,or silly gadgets-Instead flawed people in real places who react realistically,so the story flows logically and in a credible manner.I really got immersed in this film-more than anything in a long time-enjoying the jumping rather than grinding my teeth at unnecessarily silly cartoonish situations.Maybe there`s no real heroes or villains, and maybe it doesn`t follow the formula, but this is a more adult approach to superhero fantasy film making. Please, let`s see a sequel!

It's a good, fun action movie with 2007's best special effect gimmick. Christiansen makes some amends for Star Wars here, but it's Jamie Bell who steals the show.

I watched The Incredibles with my 4 year old son this afternoon. This was the second attmept at watching it after we had to switch it off some months before because the film became too intense for him. He wanted to watch it again ("All the way through this time!") and so we settled down, turned down the lights and amped up the 5.1 surround sound.
The first ten minutes had me laughing at Mr Incredible's attempts to do his duty as a superhero whilst aiming to attend what is obviously a very important function on time.
This sequence is hectic, exciting and fun. The film then slows down somewhat, and I thought my son might begin to fidget and become bored, but he didn't and the film soon livened up again.
Some later sequences are genuinely suspenseful and filled ... Read More:

I liked this film when I first saw it and now I have changed my mind with repeated watching. Like all Tarantino films, the dialogue between characters is unnatural. It feels like one person talking to themselves. The characters all talk in this faux intelligent geeky way about tiny things and there is no discernable differences between outlook or delivery of the characters words. The story doesn't hang together very well and the use of celebrity cameos is just celuloid cronyism. I fell for the hype, save your time and money and don't buy into this trash. Travolta is a fake, Jackson can't act, QT is annoying, Thurman is lovely, Keitel is cheesey and not at all hard like he makes out. There is too much wrong with this film to call it a classic. It's silly. At least Tom Cruise isn't in ... Read More:

One of the most elaborate horror/thrillers I've watched for quite a long time. At first look, the premise of the film suggests that it is just another trite and cliche-drenched tale of a "haunted place"; but as the story unfolds, the essence of the film turns out to be a different. Having a plot somewhat reminiscent of some old Stephen King adaptations like "The Shining" and "Rose Red", "1408" has lots of twists and turns with more than enough depth and dimension, working both paranormal and psychological level.

Today's horror/thrillers depend too much on graphic violence; where blood, gore, decapitations, and dismembered bodies galore. But here, the film's appeal comes from its effectiveness in creating a foreboding mood and claustrophobic feel of a Kafkaesque hotel room, capturing ... Read More:

All of these films are absolutely magnificent in their own way. A truly great purchase if you don't already have them on DVD. I had all but 3 of these films on DVD, so decided to sell the ones I had and buy this. Only things is, the Monsters INC and Toy Story 1 films in this Box Set are 4:3 as opposed to 16:9, unlike my previous versions - so a bit annoyed about that. Otherwise, this is an excellent purchase. 8 quality films for £45 is amazing value and well worth the investment.
From now, I'll be buying films on Blu-ray though, but this is a great way to say goodbye to Disney Pixar DVD's! Save yourself the trouble of buying each DVD separately and get this!
