To begin with: I love this show. I think the writing, production and acting were all top notch and I would recommend it to anyone.
So why four stars?
It goes without saying that Aaron Sorkin is a genius. His resume contains some of the best written film and television of the last decade.
Thomas Schlamme (Exec Producer) has been involved in some of the most successful TV dramas of our time.
The cast is of the highest calibre.
So why was it cancelled after one season?
I think the reason is that this show requires effort on behalf of the viewer, and people seem to be unwilling to give that effort unless they are emotionally engaged in the show.
In Sorkin's previous hit (and in my opinion the best TV show ... Read More:

it actually pained me to rate this at three stars because there is so much about i liked, however there was a also so much a didn't like. to call this film a tragedy would be overstating it but i did feel it seriuosly let down the story of the Queen of Curves.

Gretchen Mol was superb and far and away better than the over, airbrushed, naff imitation i had expected. i felt her performance really understood about Bettie and captured that spark in her that made us all crazy for her. She seemed to really care for the character and that made the viewer care too.

The cinematography has not been mentioned in many reviews i have read but it truly deserves to be. Anyone who has seen the photographs of Miss Page taken by both Klaw and Bunnie ... Read More:

This movie is like marmite: you either LOVE it or you absolutely HATE it! I saw it, found it hilarious, over the top, funny, witty, with good acting and great sets. My best friend turned it off after 20 minutes as she couldn't take it.

In the end it all depends on what you expect a movie to be. If you want a (somewhat) serious rom-com with a believable enough story and characters that might (perhaps maybe) really exist with utterly romantic moments... then this is NOT the film for you. If you, however, love Austin Powers and bright colours, if you find caricatures funny and can take twists and turns, then this might be the film for you.

As for me, it's one of my favorite films of all time. When I'm under the weather or a little sad I put it ... Read More:

I only managed to watch half this film.. The acting was shallow and portrailed a poor view of people with learning disabilities. I was cringing and had to turn it off! Sorry to those who rated high and enjoyed this film, but I would definitly not recommend it to anyone! Rubbish!!

Like Anthony Hopkins' Nixon, this is hard work and not really entertaining (why english actors for such obviously big american roles?) but very interesting: others have given a far more erudite synopsis than I. Suffice it for me to add that there was a certain humility and honesty about this (thoroughly unglamorous) man of which I was unaware and his descent into the mayhem of South East Asia appeared to be a result of circumstance and the force of the paranoid political climate of the time (McNamara should be ashamed of himself as should many of the key players of the time with their myopic focus on anti communist dogma); it just didn't seem to be ALL his fault really.

I'm glad his successful pursuit of civil rights was given descent airtime.

Romantic comedy in which Mel Gibson stars as a chauvinistic advertising executive who one day after a freak accident finds that he can hear women's thoughts, and uses this to his advantage, not least of all in the workplace. An intriguing premise that makes a lot of its comic potential but I felt that more could have been done with the idea and the ending is a big let-down. Could and should be better.

Serenity began a number of years ago as a TV series known as "Firefly". American TV station FOX in making one their most recognized stupidest decisions ever, canceled the series early. However, Firefly with its army of fans the world-over and the strong willed maker/creator Joss Whedon (of Buffy and Angel fame) fought the good fight and eventually won, with the eventual making of the Film Serenity. Through both, the TV series and the film, the term "Browncoat" alone came into being and our dictionaries but thats also another story.

The film itself quickly introduces the various characters (for those new to the whole world of Firefly) and this it does very well in the time constraints allocated to the total film length time. You cannot but love the characters. Each on their ... Read More:
