The film was a bit of a let down because they missed what I thought was several key points of the book. However it is a good film to see.

I was totally spellbound by the illusionist, brought out around about the same time as this film, so it was with slight anticipation that I watched this, expecting that it wouldn't match up to the other in the slightest. What a surprise, I was right. While I found the first film brilliant and cleverly crafted with a brilliant storyline this was just a poor, weak plotted version of something vaguely resembling a good magician's film. The ending was absurd and I was actually throwing cushions at the screen because it was such a messy plot!!Don't bother with this, watch the illusionist and see a genuinely good plot instead of a positively awful one.

The Island is actually a remake of a 70's film I remember watching when I was wee called The Clonus Horror. It's a film that always stuck in my mind as one that deserved a multi-million dollar remake, especially now as the idea of cloning humans is no longer within the domain of science fiction but has become a real theoretical possibility. I thought, what a thought-provoking film it could be, the moral dilemma of "growing" clones of the cream of our society only to freeze them until such times as their original counterparts needed a healthy organ transplant. How very Dostoyevsky, how very Nietzsche.

For instance what if the next Einstein or Newton were to develop a heart condition and would otherwise die? Would it be morally acceptable ... Read More:

I now know a little bit about mixing paint, other than that this was a complete waste of time, very glad I saw it on telly and didn't waste money on it, would rather watch the paint dry (after mixing it). Only gave this 1 star because you have to give it something

I'm shocked! The reviews of this are really surprising, to say the least. The moment I started watching this movie I was drawn in and couldn't get out even after the movie was finished.

And usually, a movie with as simplistic a plot as this wouldn't interest me greatly, but this is an unusual movie in its presentation and in the character portrayal. The film itself is basically a study of a romantic relationship between two less-than-happy individuals, both of whom meet in a world vastly different from their own. We are forced to see the lonesome atmosphere in the characters as they sit alone in their respective hotel rooms and also in the desolate neon Tokyo scenery.

The film is truly an adaptation of Rick and Ilsa in Paris. The film contains ... Read More:

GOD,this is a bad film,so disappointing to see the great mr allen churn out such dross,script-poor,acting-very poor,characters-unlikeable,the whole thing makes very little sense, even the stunning mrs johansson can't make it watchable, and just a side point jonathan rhys meyers, playing "a poor irish boy",presumably under direction, adopts an accent posher than any of the toff family he marries in to.i'm writing this as i watch the film and every scene confirms my opinion.

This most be one of the most boring films I have ever seen, the only reason I watched it was because I was that bored and there was nout on tv at all. The acting is very pathetic, even though its a kids film it is very pathetic. Its also over exaggerate with the stunts such as the water falling down the stairs and the self opening doors with voice activities. Technology hasn't gone as far as that yet. You can see the steadicam mans reflection in two shots, the shot in the kitchen where kevin goes to the frigde and opens it and then when kevin locks the butler in the freezer, you can see a dark reflection of the cameraman walking closer to the freezer, very unprofessional. And he is not home alone, theres 2 people living there even though one of them is actually the leader of the crooks ... Read More:

I wasn't sure what to expect with this film but I did really enjoy it. I could totally relate to the fresh out of college situation that Annie found herself in, unsure of how to live her future. I really enjoyed watching her settle in to the turbulent and rocky house and strike up a loving friendship with the little boy, whose image obsessed mother and work obsessed father have other more important activities to attend to instead of their son growing up. Scarlett Johansson is brilliant in some films (The Girl with the Pearl Earring, Ghost World), and I'm pleased to see her take on a role that suits her acting style.
