Eight-legged freaks is both a comedy and some not-really-horror with a dash of romance and a big debt to the monster B-movies of the sixties.

It plays as a kind of cross between the tv-series Eerie Indiana and every small-town attacked by (birds, bats, bugs - take your pick) film that you have ever seen. You know, kid sees giant spider, no-one believes him and people start disappearing...

But for this reason it doesn't fit comfortably in any genre category and possibly this is why it was fairly unsuccessful at the box office because it couldn't easily be marketed (like Clive Barker's Nightbreed - Walt Disney meets Elm Street+Friday 13th! - really!)

However, this shouldn't distract you from it being ... Read More:

Having just finished watching this I realised that its taken me three days with breaks to finish this. If I was gripped by the film I would have finished it in one viewing, therefore I have to say that I didn't enjoy this at all. I wanted to, I really did, I think Ben Affleck is great, and yes, though it's embarassing to say I do actually quite admire Colin Farrell's screen presence, however the two just didn't work here and I kept waiting for that fantastic moment where I'd finally realise that the film was worth while after all - it never came. I can understand people who are into the cartoon strips that show these stories and maybe me having an alien concept to cartoons doesn't help but I just felt something was really lacking here, and I am sorry ... what we have here kids is a fantastic feel good film that lets david spade be his usual loveable self and play around with other child actors!!!
the general gist is that dickie was great as a kid and then lost it when he grew up...he then has another chance at fame if he can get into the new rob reiner film...the downside is that he needs to experience childhood so he hires a family to put him through his childhood for him
a very silly idea i know but that is how this film works....its very silly and not much else!!! its great fun and fantastic entertainment
if you want something lighter that you and the kids will be able to enjoy then this is worth a shot!!!

After I'd finished watching the entire first season DVD set and started reading people's opinions here of this 2nd-season set, I paid no attention to the negative reviews because I loved the first season so much, but for me the second season is definitely a mixed bag, more so than the first at least. The majority of the episodes are good and there are even a few really outstanding episodes (i.e. Precipitate/The Man Who Never Was/Deja Voodoo/The Hunt), but there are also some very average, if not really uninspired episodes too.

The first 3 episodes in particular do no justice to the over-all quality of the season- it's not that they don't follow on from the season 1 cliffhanger (armageddon), as that is satisfactorily drawn-out across the entire season- it's more that these episodes ... Read More:
