This is cracking stuff. Plenty of stunts, good one liners, car chases, gunfights - in fact it's pretty much perfect action cinema. A guaranteed good evening's TV.

This film is APPALLING. I have to admit i am writing a review but i could not stomach watching the film right to the very end (i watched at least 3\4 of it), i gave it a chance but in the end i had to turn it off. It made me want to vomit. I second the oppinion by some commentators on here that if you are interested in watching a film on this topic watch THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY, well cast, amazingly directed, beautifully shot, thoughtfull, researched, provoking, intelligent and touching - all the things this film was NOT!!! There really isn't alot more to comment on the horribly Hollywoodised cheesy badly acted Michael Collins except its embarrasingly embarrasingly bad... just don't bother.

Martin Cahill was a real person. He didn't drink or smoke, had a loving if unconventional family life with his wife, her sister and their kids, didn't womanize. He also was clever, funny, charismatic, ruthless, and, up until the end, a successful Dublin criminal. He didn't see his crimes as vice, just as an occupation. In addition to hundreds of burglaries and thefts beginning when he was scarcely a teen, he was smart enough to pull off two immense robberies, the first involving a large number of gold bars and jewels, the other of extremely valuable paintings. He wound up on the bad side of the cops, of the IRA, of the Unionists and even of one of his gang members.

John Boorman has written and directed a fascinating life of Martin Cahill, ... Read More:

The Rock has to rate as one of my all-time favourite films so I just had to watch it in High Definition. With almost non-stop action and some great one-liners you have got to put this on your rental list. **********(10 stars)

DVD : Braveheart (2 Disc Special Edition) [1995]
This film doesn't pretend to be a history lesson. What it does do is inform people about the Scottish freedom fighter William Wallace and it does it in an excellent way. Many people have been critical about the historical inaccuracies in this movie but they miss the point.More than anything,'Braveheart' has opened the door for so many people to perhaps learn more about a man they may never have heard of before this film came along.
Mel Gibson deserves enormous credit for both his portrayal and direction.Indeed, the acting is pretty much top notch here and special praise must go to Patrick McGoohan as King Edward 1st.He positively drips evil and dominates every scene he is in.
This is true five star entertainment with fantastic cinematography, true emotion ... Read More:

This is a huge let down. As the bad guy, Michael Ironside does a pretty good job but the movie is such a stinker it floats in the water. Avoid.

i thought Watermelon is a great heartwarming story about a young irish girl trying to find her way and feet in life and all the hassle of love and romance that comes with it ...its funny without being cheesy, light hearted and it still gets to the point. it shows how things are for all the charecters and you get to know and understand how they are all feeling, and connect with the charecters.
Jamie Draven looks very hot in this romantic comedy and as usaul he gives an 100% to this role and give a class A performance! Anna friel gives an excerlent performace too and her accent dosent slip once from start to finish. Brilliant film!!!!!

I ordered this from Amazon and received Wall Street instead. The barcode reference number under Commando on the paperwork was the same barcode on the Wall Street box. I tried explaining this to the lady in the Amazon call centre, but as her first language was obviously not English she had trouble understanding my concern that the same film will be sent out when I get the replacement. Sure enough, the replacement arrived today in the form of Wall Street- again!! Due to the language barrier at the call centre I feel reluctant to deal with them again, and will sell it off, and never use Amazon again- for anything.

I lived in Belfast for a few years which was for the most part a positive and enjoyable experience. There is however a very nasty side to the city and some of the worst violence was carried out by a loyalist gang, dubbed the 'shankill butchers' in the 70's and 80's. The book by the same name is a great but shocking read so I had great hopes for this film! It was however very disappointing and a very weak portrayal of the horrfic crimes commited by the butcher gang. It could have been so much better. The characters and story line were very weak. Read the book, skip the film!
