Everyone had gone on about this film for years telling me how brilliant it was so I decided I'd beter watch it! I have to say I have seen better films involving dance or someone coming from a bad background and finally 'making it'. It was a good experience and the music was great but I'd much rather watch something like 'Center Stage' or even the second 'Dirty Dancing' again and again than this more than once.

Spanning over 3 time periods, the Fountain follows the life of Tom (Hugh Jackman) a Spanish Conquistador, a Doctor trying to cure Cancer, and a lone spaceman guarding the Tree of Life.
As the Inquisator is bringing Spain to its knees, Tomas is sent by the queen to find the Tree of Life, hidden somewhere in South America, with only a few good soldiers and a wise priest, he must brave the Mayan Civilisation to reach his goal.
Whilst trying to cure cancer, Tommy's wife Izzy is slowly dying of a Brain Tumor. In her last few days, she gives Tommy a book she has been writing, and the book is called 'The Fountain'.
And in the future, Tom has the sole purpose of guarding the dying Tree of Life. He needs to rekindle its life by sending it ... Read More:

well what can i say...its awful.
there is no pace,no(half decent) actors(except JLC for her single scene for Lauries demise)and well no plotline.
a failure...and surprisingly better than 3-6 but still atrocious...why they even bothered with this film i will never know...it is even better than the remake of the original which was a surprise.
H2O redeemed the franchise with good performances and fun scenes although there were holes in the plot it was a very good sequel...this should be avoided at all costs.
and to top it all off a '15' certificate to make this the tamest out of the whole franchise.

DVD : Cruel Intentions [1999]
Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy) stars as Kathryn, a manipulative woman who places a bet with her step brother Sebastian that he can't get the principal's stepdaughter Annette into bed.

Based on Choderlos de Laclos' novel, Cruel Intentions brings a dark and sexy tale of lies, manipulation and romance to our screens in a dramatic and diverse way, with superb acting and excellent direction and acting.

The lead three actors, Gellar, Phillippe (Flags of our fathers) and Witherspoon (Walk the line) are all tremendous in their respective roles and do the plot justice by giving sexy and sophisticated performances in one of the sexiest dramas of the 90's.

The plot is very character driven, which was helped along by these great performances. ... Read More:

The movie is excellent - 5 stars out of 5. The review here is of the Blueray conversion. To me the high definition version - in this case - looks little better than normal DVD. In fact my upscaling DVD performs nearly as well - and before you ask my blueray DVD player and TV are set-up correctly. I guess the problem could be mainly due to this movie having a lot of very dark settings/scenes which don't really lend themselves to a lot of on-screen picture detail. My advice is to save yourself a few pounds and buy the normal DVD instead - at least in this case. The movie itself though - what a visually brilliant and engaging storyline!

Had to see this film, loved the original, even though a cracking film disappointed original stars moira kelly and d b sweeney had been replaced. They tried to carry on the theme from the original film which would have worked beautifully with the original stars although they did try to make it up by getting actors with a similar look who tried to carry of the characters in the same way as the original stars. I think worth a look but having been waiting for a sequel for years without mk and dbs it wasnt the same. But all my opinion, someone else could like it anyway.

I have seen countless number of vampire movies from my Dad's collection. He
is a great 'Chris Lee' fan. I too love Mr.Lee's films, but, once I saw Gerard Butler, I was bowled over. This is a vampire film with a very nice twist. Chris.Plummer acts as the aged Van Helsing, who has kept the lethal
count's body in his high-security vault. The fun begins from that point. I
will not spoil the movie for new viewers by narrating the whole story in advance. All ye modern-day vampire lovers, take it from me: This is the Best. Better than the 'Blade' flicks and even better than 'John Carpenter's vampires'.
