Hi... Sadly, this was not the hidden gem I'd hoped for (Black books and Sugar Rush cetainly were). It is realistic and the acting is good. I did watch each episode of series one, looking forward to what would be happening next because each episode finishes with a kind of cliffhanger or crisis point I found it confusing and frustrating that the exact endings of each episode are not continued into the following episode, but you do soon get the gist of the events and emotions in the characters' lives... and that's what I found boring.... With the exception of Louise, I didn't like any of the main characters.... so selfish, self-obsessed and closed. But worse, they are rubbish friends. ... Read More:

A friend recommended this to me and when he told me it was an animation I kind of disregarded it for some reason. However I finally checked it out and was astounded by its scathing social commentary of New Labour Britain. It's simply fantastic. Wonderful and varied animation, a fantastic soundtrack and perfectly suited voice overs. I've seen series 2 as well and I think it's even better. Please BBC, can we have all 3 series on DVD. It is shocking, then funny, then shocking again. My favourite sketches were Clive, chat room pervert, Daddy and Timmy and the hilarious Daisy Harris press conference. An excellent, succinct, funny, incisive, well-produced parody of all that is shallow, uninformative, transient and superficial in so much of the so-called news media (so often, non-news) of this country (GB), and, presumably, the USA. If you ever despair at the tabloid-isation of the TV news reports - this is the DVD for you. Buy it, watch it at least twice (to catch all those little pieces you missed first-time round); by this time you should be hooked. Even the repetitive nature of some of the in-jokes all add to the enjoyment of this DVD. A word of warning; if watched too close to the "real" news, a deep cynicism might result - you might prefer BROKEN NEWS to the "real world" of mass-media presentation.
