As a fan of superhero movies, I have been a happy man recently. The quality of these movies has increased massively over the past few years. The Dark Knight, Spiderman and Hulk movies are great improvements on previous efforts.... can Iron Man keep up... OH YES! Watched this last night on my brand new 1080p TV and was blown away with the picture quality... amazing. Then you have the film itself. Sets up the character brilliantly, I really like Stark the playboy, and you are really convinced with his epiphany. With good performances from all the actors, great special effects and CGI that is not obvious, this made for a very entertaining 2 hours. Even sets you up for an exciting sequel..... a must buy for super hero movie fans, especially on ... Read More:

This is not my normal sort of movie, but watched this with a friend. The film starts quite slowly, building up the background of our main characters and eventually moves to a very emotional climax. With an excellent script, story and acting, this movie has you getting frustrated with the characters and going through all that they are. With an interesting view of how Afghanistan and the Taliban are, this moving really opens your eyes and makes you think.

If the word "contrived" hadn't previously existed, it would have been invented for this film! It's as predictable as it's possible to get with so many glaring errors in the "plot" (and I use the word loosely!) that it could quite easily be classed as a comedy. The story gets dragged out time and time again by creating ridiculous situations, just to keep things going, and by the end I was actually hoping the bomb would go off and get rid of the entire cast.

I wasn't expecting a Hitchcock style thriller, but when the writers have to resort to making the baddies so dumb, that even a completely dumb "goody" can defeat them, you can't help but bang your head against the wall in frustration!

Grab a bowl of popcorn, pull up your favourite ... Read More:

You know the plot: After young Mary is betrothed to an older man, she is told by an angel that she will bear God's son. She could be stoned for this pregnancy, but Joseph has a dream from God explaining the truth and he takes her as his wife. They must make the difficult journey to Bethlehem for the census, and they arrive just in time for the baby's arrival in a stable.

It is a lovely story, told quite simply and tastefully. The costumes and village sets are authentic-looking, rough-hewn in earth-tones. The international cast features Keisha Castle-Hughes as a straightforward and uncomplaining Mary, used to hard work and the tyranny of the Romans. Oscar Isaac is a warm and protective Joseph. Shohreh Aghdashloo is wonderful as Mary's cousin Elizabeth; ... Read More:
