Who do you think you are is a super, even thrilling TV series. Almost like an up to date 'This is your Life' we go beyond the person to find out their family history. What has surprised me is how much suffering there was, and so just how comfortable we are today.
Great TV! Well worth buying.

I first saw this film about 6 years ago, and I was very, very surprized at how wonderful it is. The story, the writing, and performances are all brilliant. Bette Davis excels at being a 1st rate monster, and has all the other players humbled before the evening is over.

This has to be one of Davis' finest films, and because it is British, makes it even more fascinating to watch. There is some comedy in it too. Thoroughly recommended film to watch.

Wonderful to see this series released on DVD. The only problem is the transfer quality (picture and sound). Can appreciate this is old footage, but for the selling price one expects better quality. Technology is there to improve the said quality, but the makers haven't bothered on this occasion.

oh dear you can tell this film is defiantly from the 80's but you know i dont mind that in fact i kinda like it the story is unfortionatly very predictable and it really doesnt pull any heart strings for me but its great to stick it on the old dvd player sit back and enjoy without having to concentrate to much and at the same time not get bored just a thourally enjoyable nice pleasent film with some great scenes between tom selleck steve guttenberg and ted danson why did they never work on anything else together? there a great trio!

Bette Davis shines in this wonderfully flamboyant piece of black comedy which surprisingly was produced by Hammer pictures (yes the same studio who brought you Dracula et al) With a great line in eyepatches that seem to shadow her moods, Miss Davis veritably chews up the scenery with a thick slice of "ham" every time she appears on screen as the dominating matriach of a very dysfunctional family.

The only downside to this DVD is the lack of any special features, which is a shame as the director Roy Ward Baker always makes for entertaining and informative listening on the several "horror" film commentaries he's been involved with. That aside, The Anniversary is a true gem in Bette Davis's later career that can stand right alongside "Whatever ... Read More:

I'll start by saying that I watch a lot of low-budget films and like odd concepts or new ideas. I didn't read any reviews before watching this. I can't remember why I ever chose it in the first place.

I did watch it all of the way through, but it was a struggle at times.

The problem with the film is the attempt to make all of the dialoge rhyme. I found this extremely annoying. With normal speech the flim would have been instantly a lot better. The worst rhyme I spotted was "grieving" and "leaving". It also put a straight-jacket onto the ebb and flow of the scenes.

I watched the extra features and it appears that the director really did put her heart into this, believing that she was revealing truths about the differences between ... Read More:

i absolutly loved this when it was on tv and it was my first glimps into an adaptation and from then on i loved them all (p&p, s&s, emma, martin chuzzlewit, jane eyre, etc). i was always hoping they would put it on again and on DVD (hint, hint) i always wanted to own it on dvd, i see they have it in video and at a ridiculusly high price!!!
what can i say the gowns where beautiful, the storyline was gripping and will keep you on the edge of your seat and in my opinion it was perfectly adapted for tv. when the sad part came you couldn't help feeling terrible for her (won't give any away) but then a ray of hope and all was well again ready for a happy ending. i just adore this BBC adaptation and at the end you can't help sighing with sheer delight. i heartly suggest ...
