this film isn't exactly what i would call a real classic. sure, it has all the usual actors but it doen't any humourous moments, like some of the other films in the series. The ending is just plain embarissing. it made me cringe.
watch this if you a fan.
My son adores this film, i haven't discovered why yet but i've been watching him very closely and i think that some of the scenes are a little to saturating for him to handle.

Watching this film recently I was surprised how good it looks (colour, sets, costumes etc) and how enjoyable it was. Plot, acting etc are all fine. Funniest moment has to be the bike with square wheels!!!

This beats "Life Of Brian" hands down for entertainment value.

A classic film from Ealing Studios focusing on the glorious bygone days of British Railways.
The Titfield railway is up for closure. Mortified, the local community propose to run the railway themselves, competing with the local bus company. Superbly shot in the beautiful West Country in glorious technicolour and with steam trains and the atmosphere of the tranquil branch line galore. A bit strange in places, especially when we are expected to believe a steam engine can run off the rails, however, this is Ealing and nothing should be taken too seriously.
As this film centres around a railway closure, could this have been one of Dr. Beeching's favourites?
First class!!

The best bit of this is that very few of the stellar cast were known to cinema viewers when this came out in 1957. It didn't end there, though.

We should face facts-every cliche in the book is in here, the special effects consist of repeated speeded-up film of stunt driven lorries hurtling round the same corners and country roads, meeting nothing more than pre-war Ford cars en route and Irish-American Patrick McGoohan's Irish accent is almost as unconvincing as Lithuian Herbert Lom's comic Italiano.

Who cares??

It's a rip-roaring film, moves along fast, has a supporting cast, apart from Herbert Lom, of William Hartnell, Jill Ireland,Sean Connery, Alfie Bass, Sid James & Gordon Jackson, and is only missing a loveable ... Read More:

I wonder if this film went over alot of peoples heads who weren't teenagers in the 1970's, I was and thought it captured the era brilliantly, the soundtrack is amazing and I thought that the insight into present day Hollywood when you face no longer fits was very intersting.
I thought Daniel Craig was very good in this role and it was refreshing to see such an actor not in a 'blockbuster'
Personally I was suprised that this film was not a bigger sucess and would recommed it, especailly to poeple who lived through and loved the 70's.

The inimitable Margart Rutherford here fits perfectly into the role of an elderly female "Robin Hood" aiding and abetting in a plan to steal from the rich in order to restore what they stole to the poor. Expect plenty of wild chases, flocks of pigeons, scatterings of currency notes, and cameo roles from many of your favourite players of the 1950s. You get plenty of Margaret Rutherford for your money, and a top quality DVD restoration.

This is definately my favourite of all of the Carry On Films. It is laughter from the moment it starts.
Kenneth Williams as Stuart Farquhar is fantastic especially when Peter Butterworth as the Spanish Hotel owner says 'Stupid What? when he first introduces his name.
Joan Sims and Sid James as husband and wife are hysterical and the scene where Sid smashes through the patio window when he thinks it hasnt got any glass in it, is superb........Joan Sims laughter really makes that scene and its so contageous.
The whole supporting cast are brilliant and there really is not just one star of this film they are all great. (Lovely Bernard Breslaw as Brother Bernard and the beautiful Carol Hawkins as the girl he takes a shine to....so many others to mention, of course Barbara ... Read More:
