On the face of it, I shouldn't have enjoyed these three. I'm not a fan of zombie movies, generally finding them deathly boring, and I don't play video games, so I came to these movies completely uninitiated in the RE universe.

But I have to say that I found all three RE movies extremely enjoyable. Are they high art? Of course not. But for what they are, they produce the goods. I think the addition of a fairly solid plotline and generally rounded out characters lifts them above the average zombie movie.

My only complaint is that in RE3 we are never told what happens to most of the surviving characters at the end of RE2. With the exception of Alice's love interest, who reprises his role, the others are simply forgotten ... Read More:

I was happily surprised by this film. It had a distant Lord of the Rings feel to it but was still uniquely exciting with its own individual storyline. I had wanted to see this film for so long and I am so glad I have now, I was really moved by this and actually had a tear in my eye in some parts. A good story for kids and adults alike with a really sweet dragon!

i never really liked this film. compared to the book, it was horrible. i mean, they cut out a whole desert in the process, changed the order of events, and virtually destroyed the chance of book 2 bieng done! the whole point of book 2 was that he was a cripple! if you have not read the book, it is not that bad. but i hated it.

The first half of the film, basically building up the background, introducing the lead characters and doing the "farm boy learns how to be a hero" thing starts off promisingly. I was not expecting much so was pleasantly surprised. A decent story, yes very cliched, but what fantasy film isn't to some greater or lesser extent a copy of its predecessors?

Amicable lead actor for Eragon, and Jeremy Irons brings a touch of much needed class to the film. To be honest, Mr Irons saves the film from 1 or 2 stars from me.

However, the second half is utter tripe.

Glaring CGI failures (e.g we are shown the dragon armour that was made for the dragon, in the next scene we see the dragon wearing completely different armour).

The film/sound/extras have been well reviewed by others.
As far as film goes it depends what you are wanting.
If you are after a shoot 'em up full of zombies being shot as the heros go from A to B, to C, to D.. then you are in for a treat.
If you are after an intellectual challenge then prepare to do a crossword at the same time.
Some decent acting (shoot zombie, kick zombie, hit zombie) by some attractive looking actresses/actors and Milla plays her part well.

This comes 3rd in my opinion, with the films starring cate blanchett second helen mirrens elizabeth I 1st and this LAST! anne marie duff is unbelievably bad, and all the rest of the cast are like something from hollyoaks. the script is good but the acting is bad. Mary queen of scots is barely covered too, whilst also shoving a bad soundtrack into the bargain. As most people say about this production its that the first 15 mins are good and then it goes down hill. If they kept up what they did in the first 15 mins this would have been great. In the 4th episode they make her look so ugly, whilst this is horstoricly true its just not serious enough to look at it looks stupid. Ive given this 2 stars becuase the script is flawless and it goes into the little details like elizabeths ... Read More:

This was on TV last night, and I nearly didn't watch it, due to the mixed reviews it has received. In the end, I thought I might as well, and am actually quite glad I did. Yes, the reason why the time machine gets created is clichéd and really quite unnecessary, and the story does move away from Well's novel, but I didn't really mind, to be honest, as the idea of the old world order coming to an end, due to the moon's demise, is actually quite interesting. The acting is sound across the board, with Guy Pierce and Jeremy Iron's, in a cameo on this occasion, on good form. The real star of the show is, of course, the Time Machine itself, and it's well realized, capturing the spirit of the nineteen century, with all it's brass instruments, cog wheels, and pressure gauges. The time travel ... Read More:

Apocalypse is a good film but it has enormous plot holes, e.g. When the girl is in the car crash, how does she survive?! and how does she get back to her school, while avoiding the zombies and how does anyone survive in the helicopter at the end?! But if you can overlook these plot holes, Apocalypse is a fairly decent zombie film.

If you like period drama this represents 5 hours of sheer bliss. In my book its up there with the best including "Brideshead Revisited" and "Dance to the Music of Time". Fine acting, superb locations,( including Castle Howard) and highest production values. I had to watch it on my computer though. If it was made by the BBC with our licence money how come its only available as a Region 1 DVD?

Helen Of Troy [2003]

I thank the reviewer "Beth C" for confirming that this production sticks to the original story.

The production values for a TV mini series are pretty good, but evidence of rush abound everywhere in the inadequately prepared performances, which makes me reluctant to criticise the acting.

However Cassandra comes over very well as accurately forecasting the future with nobody believing her (the result of a curse from the god Apollo).

As the Trojan War is one of the world's best known events/myths/legends it hardly seems worth spending three hours watching this DVD.
