After Soprano's came to an end last year over here in blighty last year I was wondering would another series come along to give it a run for it's money.

I'm not sure what people think of David Chase's Mafia Epic but I can imagine cries of overrated being called out, I personally found utterly engrossing TV and simply sublime, I was somewhat sad to see it end but grateful Chase chose it to go out on high and yes I was perfectly happy with the opened ended abrupt ending to the final episode. Chase never was going to do conventional.

While I admit Showtime's Dexter started to fill that void, the 1st season was a great intro to the world of Miami's most interesting serial killer the 2nd season took the concept and ran with ... Read More:

after the 1st 2 series, 1st=4star, 2nd=5 star, this is a let down, so only 3 stars.
the whole "hamsterdam" thing is gargage and the actors know it, they look a bit embarrased at having to do something that is not believable and it shows.
overall, its messy and lacks focus.
have even debated with myself to stop watching it and get on with something else instead, whereas the 1st 2 series were riviting.
after this, i dont know if i'll give series 4 a go.

The only problem I have with The Wire is having to get to the end. This, the penultimate series, is by far the greatest drama to have EVER been televised and having just watched the final episode I feel almost empty knowing I have only one more series left to enjoy.
However, I am also looking forward to watching the entire box set all over again. There's always so much happening in The Wire I'm sure there'll be plenty I've missed!
This series concentrated mostly on Baltimore's educational system and provided a platform for some of the finest young actors I've ever seen.
As always, the writing is outstanding and you're left with a feeling that nothing else on television even comes close to the high standards set by David Simon, but despite ... Read More:

We follow ambulanceman Frank (Nicholas Cage) over the course of 3 nights who's suffering from a touch of insomnia, each night he has a different partner, first Larry (John Goodman) who's pretty subdued in this role, Marcus (Ving Rhames) who shows a good comic side to himself and then finally Walls (Tom Sizemore) who ranges between a normal level headed guy to a lunatic and brings a nice bit of dark humour to the film)

It's hard to know what to call this film in a way it's a drama, but not full on, then it's a black comedy, but again not enough to refer to it as such, there's a bit of eveything here, from weirdness, to humour, ghosts to hearing voices from various people.

This film will not be to everyones liking I'm sure, but if you fancy seeing Nicholas ... Read More:

Wow. Just wow. A powerful movie, subtle and moving, for once treating the subject of inner-city African-American life with dignity and respect. It is shys away from the typical taudry 'guns and hos' trivialisation of ghetto life. The rhymes are amazing, the acting superb. Just one of the best films I have seen in a while.
