Both films are very watchable hence why I bought the set to watch again however only Evolution has subtitles whilst Underworld has none...which is no good as Im deaf and rely on subtitles..so anyone who relies on subtitles, avoid this boxset!

having found the christmas special and New Earth reasonably enjoyable,i decided that series 1 couldn't be beaten...i was totally wrong...David Tennant is the greatest doctor of them all,and he just kept improving throughout this series.
these are without a doubt the greatest episodes in series 2,and i even prefer these to the finale(Doomsday).

Tooth & Claw-a genuinly rewarding experience,Russel T.Davies has written a mini-horror film, and unlike the movies this werewolf is very scary and artistic to look at...i personally feel that this is the best episode he wrote of series 2 as it combines the humour, stunts and scares needed in an episode of Doctor Who,and Rose isn't all lovy dovy with the Doc in this episode(thank god!!!)but ... First of all, any movie that includes Lawrence Fox is worth watching (I haven't seen him in anything I haven't liked, so far.); next, I found this well-acted two-part series absorbing from beginning to end. Damian Lewis is also excellent in the role of the charming rogue who almost gets away with his villainy.

The problem with the story, it seems to me, is that it couldn't quite make up its mind as to genre: Escape yarn? Love story? Murder mystery? Espionage thriller? It is all of these, but, given the name of the film, I can see how anyone expecting the first might be disappointed, since the narrative passes so quickly over many of the riveting details of the great escape stories that emerged during the 1950s, which concentrated both on ... This is a great special effect film,, HD shows of the transformation of human to vampire to werewolf and etc.
The fight scenes are very good, explosions, helicopter crashes, mortal visceral Kombat with vampire/ werewolves /guns etc.
My favourite bit is Bill Nighy in the 12th century as a Lord of the Realm vampire, the war of vampires and werewolves looks absolutely stunning. Action sequences are very slick( and there is alot of action), superb choreography. Bill Nighy, Derek Jacobi, the Marcus guy, and all the surrounding actors are great.
The only , and Only reason it does not get 5 stars, and not a classic is that Kate Beckinsdale ( the hot lead) and Scott Speedman are unconvincing lead actress and actor. Oh and its always night.

Forgive my pervy title to this review.

The film follows an ancient war between vampires and werewolves, the former being Kate Beckinsale's bag.

The special effects are excellent and good storyline.

Ok, it's not going to cover all of the book and some scenes have been dramatized but it's still a very good production, the key elements of the novel are represented, the casting is good, (unlike the BBC's recent Bleak House), it is far, far better than the film version which looked to me like it had been dumbed down for an American audience. I'm sure that the characters in the novel would have behaved like the production ones had Dickens been writing the script today, the alledged rape scene is implied and not carried through and Squeers is a nasty piece of work, I can't really imagine him in any other way. I rate this highly but do bear in mind it is more for a modern audience and not a 1970's slow mo effort (which are still good but for different reasons), ... Read More:

You'd think that a film where vampires are at war with werewolves and Kate Beckinsale is running about in a tight black leather catsuit for 2 hours would be a great film, right? Wrong! Other than the catsuit there's not a lot I can say to honestly recommend this anyone.

It starts off with a decent gun-fight in a subway station then just gets duller and duller by the minute. The characters are cardboard with no background, feeling or personality, the acting is as hammy as a 20-pack of bacon, the story is boring and could have been so much better given the vampire/werewolf war idea, the action is in small doses and the in-between bits are just so slow and predictable it just makes the film drag on and on and got to the point where it was pretty much unwatchable ... My favorite Dracula film prior to this was with Gary Oldman & Winona Ryder. What impressed me most about this 2006 BBC version was that it was so character driven rather than 'horror' driven. I found the characters complex and intruiging. I liked the layers of Lord Holmwood's desperate search for a cure, Singleton using everybody, Dracula pursuing what he wanted while fighting off those who would try to usurp his power to use it for their own gain, on & on. It was less good & evil and more conflicting goals & desires.

I think maybe the cover of the DVD is a bit mis-leading in this case as it depicts such classic horror (blood & fire) rather than the moodiness and quietness of the film. I saw it on TV with no expectations from seeing the cover ... Read More:

I watched the TV show and thought is was good. so i then bought the book and watched the show again and realised it misses out at least half of the actual story and some of the chracters names are wrong. i advise everyone to read the book as it is 100 times better than the TV show.
