I know that this isnt a review ( everyone has already said how fabulous this film is ) but I would love to know what happened to the actress that played Little Dorrit , Sarah Pickering .
I believe that this was her first and last acting role !

I'm a bit of die hard WH fan and have seen all the versions. So if you loved the romantic Laurence Olivier version of WH then don't bother watching this. If you thought Laurence simply WAS heathcliff then im afraid you have never really read the book.

Quite simply put, Ralph Fiennes is Emily Bronte's Heathcliff. Heathcliff isnt meant to be a mills and boon hollywood hero, he has been twisted and shaped by forces in his life into this cruel shadow of a man. Heathcliff is all about passion and revenge. Byronic hero anyone? the whole point of Heathcliff was as a warning... love like theirs is fine within the pages of a book, but to actually pursue this man in real life? isabella is a stark warning to women everywhere

so why ... Read More:

Well I won't go into details about the story, other reviewers have already done this very nicely, I merely just want to endorse the praising reviewers by adding that I totally agree with their opinion about this film in every way - it is really a marvellous adventure, telling the story of Holmes' youth, how he meets Watson for the first time, why he decides later on, to live with the absence of a women in his life and how he comes across his worst enemy Professor Moriarty.

Although the story is not an original of Conan Doyle, it is absolutely a wholehearted one, done with a lot of respect for the original stories, that only a true fan could produce.

All actors are great here and in particular the leading roles - this is an adventure ... Read More:

'Adapted Eye' is the best of the Vine novels, a modern Greek tragedy that explores the sheer hatred that is unleashed when two hitherto devoted sisters fall out over a child that both want. The excellent TV adaptation captures the range of emotion, helped by the casting of Sophie Ward as the glacial Eden (the name conveys her perfection) and Celia Imrie's homely but manipulating Vera. Acting as narrator, Faith (Bonham Carter) has an important role of her own, her life blighted by guilt and the suspicion that Vera's madness might be hereditary. In an early appearance, Honeysuckle Weekes plays the young Faith, morphing rather unconvincingly and suddenly into the darker Bonham Carter - a pity in an otherwise good production.

'Fatal Inversion' was the first ... Read More:

What a great film made even better by the fact it was made on a shoe string budget by a team with 'Big Talent'. The location (New Forest)England and story line is surreal but something about it grips you to the end, tongue in cheek, dark humour says it all and the characters - amazing what you can do with a bit of hessian and a few zips.

DVD : Joanna Trollope's A Village Affair [1995]
This story is an adaptation of Joanna Trollope, whom I am told is the queen bee of the "Aga sagas", romantic-sexual novels set in places like Gloucestershire. I suppose this kind of setting appeals to a kind of Daily Mail female readership or audience. I have to say I found none of the characters particularly likeable or even interesting. The plot is basic: married couple with young children go to live in what would be described by the aforesaid newspaper as "idyllic" village-rural quarters in an old detached house with garden, nice village nearby etc. Husband tries to seduce posh neighbour's (black tie dinner at home...) daughter (turns out she's Lesbian anyway); some other character tries to seduce the wife of the couple. Both unsuccessful. Lesbian seduces wife of couple, ... Read More:

With a strong cast, this tale unfolds from a gentle depiction of a middle class family to a poignant study of 'hidden' family values. The drama unfolds following the discovery of the true worth of a painting and sketches by their deceased father and hidden feelings start to emerge.

Angela Lansbury in particular is superb, with the film being a visual treat and a classy tribute to Rosamund Pilcher.

I managed to catch this film on the BBC last year, and I thought it was really great. It had enough plot twists to keep you guessing right up to the end, and it was made real by some pretty good acting as well. Overall, a great film to keep you entertained for an evening, and a bargain at the price it is being sold at!
