Before they were quite so famous, two of the main cast of this superb film gave the performances that would kick their acting careers into the million dollar market.
The film itself will forever be a classic. Its simple and easy to relate to plot has you laughing, crying and remembering your own youth.
The main plot and character are a work of genius and really has your total attention through the whole film. It expands your mind to the further possibles of life and also those missed oppotunities.
So the story is amazing, the acting is fantastically believable and the film is crammed full of modern day superstars. What are you waiting for?!?

Director John McTiernan gives us yet another techno thriller: THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER. Sean Connery (whose Russian is too Scottish) plays Captain Marko Ramius, a much decorated Russian commander who navigates his submarine towards America in an attempt to defect. Soviet intelligence tells the Americans that Ramius went mad and plans to launch nuclear missiles at the United States. Jack Ryan (Alec Baldwin in his major film acting debut), a brainy CIA analyst, believes otherwise: American spies have determined that the submarine is powered by a secret, silent engine called a "caterpillar drive."

To save the Soviet submarine for prying western eyes, meanwhile avoiding a nuclear war, Ryan must board the Red October to assist Captain Ramius in navigating ... Read More:

This film left me with the distinct feeling of having been ripped-off. A poster featuring some very purposeful-looking criminal types, a European setting, a famous director - there initially appeared to be much on offer. The reality, however, was quite different. In this mindless mess of a movie, Robert De Niro reprises his stock `90s role of gun-toting anti-hero and, in the company of a ragbag of international B-listers, takes a trip into the heart, not of darkness, but of dullness. The basic story is, well, pretty basic. The film consists mostly of a series of ridiculous stand-offs and arguments between De Niro and the other players, who comprise a gang engaged in some kind of convoluted theft. Oh, and there are couple of car-chases - wow! Jean Reno becomes De Niro's "friend" ... Read More:

Ronin is, in my opinion, is John Frankenheimer's best film - even picked up a few awards along the way. Robert De Nero's take on Sam is excellent, and even Sean Bean does well in this, as the crazy gun toting Spence. The star of the movie has to be Natascha McElhone as Deirdre; desperate to get that case no matter what. Was really pleased to see Jean Reno in this, his French flair being a centrepiece.

If you don't know what Ronin is about then prepare for a whirlwind plot, dodgy plans and wasted opportunities (by the gang, not direction), oh and probably the best car chases I've seen in the 90s. The best one being in Paris, closely followed by the one in Nice.

The film has a lot of twists and turns, and is a pleasure to watch, with De Nero, Reno and ... Read More:

If you are a fan of the Pirates series, this is a must-have. The movie is good fun, carried almost entirely on the shoulders of Johnny Depp, but the small amount of character development you see with Lee Arenberg and Mackenzie Crook (the oh so eloquent pirate) is a welcome development.

The picture quality is outstanding, and this one really shows why you should upgrade to HD at this point in time.

I have one piece of advice for you: IGNORE ALL THE BAD REVIEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are all complete codswallop! I mean, GET A LIFE! This is only the best of the three! Not to mention the extra disc with how they made it (very interesting - have to watch the bit about Davy Jones).

This is an ALL TIME FAMILY FAVOURITE in my house - no kidding. There's some dispute in my family about which of the three is best, but we all agree that POTC 2 is the funniest. I mean, there is a three-way battle on a giant water-wheel! For heaven's sake! Not to mention the- No, I won't spoil it for you. Because you're going to watch it. Aren't you? OF COURSE YOU ARE!!!!!!!!!!!

After 4 years i finally watched this DVD right through, out of curiosity more then anything else. I admit the battle scenes were actually authentic, though perhaps a little OTT with the blood sometimes, although that was what warfare was like back then. They wanted to make a gritty and unromantic portrayal of the era and the filmmakers have succeded in doing that.
However i detected a faint whiff of liberalistic revisionism. I thought Arthur was supposed to be a christian hero, not some wishy washy pelagian.

The roles and character of the historical figures of bishops pelagius and germannus seem to have been completely inverted. Pelagius' erroneus ideas caused a lot of trouble and confusion amongst the church in britain and europe at this time, Germannus was sent to ... Read More:
