Well, I managed about 30 minutes and then had to turn it off. A fairytale with no magic, visuals with no sense of wonder, murky and multi layered sfx, leadenly scripted and so uninvolving it leaves one bewildered. Even worse is that the visual language and pace of the film adamantly refuses you access in an attempt to be different and radical. The berserk music score also annoys. On the plus side the female lead is very good, but then so what? Quite possibly one of the worst films ever made. Zero stars.

Wall of silence is a true story about a boy who is murdered by a gang of teenage thugs. There were many witnesses to the crime. At first the police encounter a wall of silence from the community the teenagers have terrorised. Due to a brave campaign led by the boy's father the wall of silence begins to crack. Though very sad throughout it is an inspiring story about how a community can stand up to and defeat bullies.

My favorite Dracula film prior to this was with Gary Oldman & Winona Ryder. What impressed me most about this 2006 BBC version was that it was so character driven rather than 'horror' driven. I found the characters complex and intruiging. I liked the layers of Lord Holmwood's desperate search for a cure, Singleton using everybody, Dracula pursuing what he wanted while fighting off those who would try to usurp his power to use it for their own gain, on & on. It was less good & evil and more conflicting goals & desires.

I think maybe the cover of the DVD is a bit mis-leading in this case as it depicts such classic horror (blood & fire) rather than the moodiness and quietness of the film. I saw it on TV with no ... Read More:

DVD : Crusade in Jeans ( La Croisade en jeans ) ( Kruistocht in spijkerbroek )
Ok, so the Harry Potter films kind of have the monopoly on children's fantasy films, but Crusade in Jeans, albeit a little more obscure, is still a great film to watch.
Particularly impressive is the boy who plays the character Benedict. He might not be the main character, but you can tell this boy is going to go far!
