It's definitely one of my favorites of all time because it's got stuff that most movies don't have: Everything. MGM and company unintentionally created a work of popular art that could only be fully appreciated in its original, pristine print, 70mm, super widescreen glory. It is no longer possible to make a film like Ben-Hur. Oh, George Lucas tries with all his computerized graphics, but this is a REAL spectacle, not some virtual one. 8,000 extras, tens of thousands of costumes, a $15 million budget (in the 1950's!), massive sets depict the power of Rome on the grandest possible scale. It took six years to complete production. Yet, its focus remains sharply on the detail, the private human experience of it all. The story doesn't get lost in ... Read More:

Ben Hur is my favourite film of all time and I have seen it many times since I first saw it as a schoolboy in Dublin in 1960. Naturally when the 4 disc version became available I got it straight away. Everything was perfect, the film itself, the earlier version and the extras on the 4th disc but the documentary "Directed by William Wyler" which was widely advertised as being on the box set is literally nowhere to be seen. I'm slightly perplexed as to why nobody (including myself I must confess) has posted this query since the box set was released 2 years ago.
If anyone has information on this I would appreciate their input.
Michael.

Just watched this movie again for the first time in thirty years, haven't seen it since it was a favorite sunday afternoon flick when I was about ten and unbelievably, IT STILL ROCKS!

I have read some reviews about the cheesy effects but then there's something great about a movie where your imagination is required to fill in the gaps. I haven't seen a movie in years that left me on tender hooks from start to finish like this. Truly magnificent sci-fi classic.

To see this movie in restored 235.1 widescreen is a sheer joy and the two channel stereo track works perfectly on a surround system, it's the closest you will get to seeing the origional cinema release. The movie score is intense and what more can you say for a movie that ... Read More:

It has an eerie quality which perfectly suits the subject matter, and an emotional kick that delivers in every way. Whatever you think of war and the futility of war, and the waste of dying for your country, this movie reminds one that sometimes small sacrifices change the course of fate. It doesn't shy away from the awfulness of what was required. A beautiful film which captures the meaning of life quite perfectly.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS REVIEW IS FOR 'FANTASIC VOYAGE' ONLY:

This is a movie that has played tricks in my memory over the years. I first saw this when I was a child, and for some reason recall a much more exciting journey with lots more happenings, including a much longer passing through a beating heart - which doesn't actually happen at all, and so I guess the memory really does play some giant tricks with the passage of time!

I guess many young people may be very critical of this film, since nowadays there are so many much more advanced and sophisticated special effects. However, for its day, this was quite brilliant!

A group of Experts climb into a submarine and are 'miniaturised' and sent on a mission ... Read More:

I love Bronson, the dude is class but i was disappointed with Assasanation. Bronson did a few movies for canon pictures in the 80's including several death wish sequels which were the best of that output. All were low budget action affairs but bronsons charm and charisma saw what would've been very mediocre through. This however is the worse of those films, a poor script, risable dialogue and bland action sequences sink this into sunday afternoon tv movie terrain. My advice?..Love Bronson..hate this film though!

When Morgan Sullivan(Jeremy Northam) is given a job with Digicorp, he is told that he is to be a corporate spy, recording sensitive information about rival companies at various conferences. He is also given a new identity, and is now called Jack Thursby. He meets a woman called Rita Foster(Lucy Liu) who initially says that she is a Hotel inspector, but when they meet up again, what she tells him is going to shatter Morgan's world, and make him question his own sanity.
This is a wonderful film, multi layered, complex but with a very rewarding pay off. Sometimes it can be a little too clever for its own good, but it is so visually dazzling and mind bending that a bit of indulgence can be forgiven. Northam is wonderful in dual roles, and Lucy Liu is given a ... Read More:

"A Man Called Noon" is a very good story of a man suffering from amnesia.
I enjoy any story by Louis Lamour, but was disappointed with the quality of the picture as it had a lot of double vision in the beginning, and the disc must have been faulty as the picture came to an abrupt halt about half way through. After fast forwarding I managed to watch the rest of the film.
"Hondo And The Apaches",also a good story, was spoilt by,what appeared to be "cutting" parts of the film,as,in some cases sequences ended suddenly.
Perhaps I received a bad disc. Much prefer "Hondo" with John Wayne.
