The attempt at justifying the dumping of a child at a hotel is a particular low point in this film, which -for me- drags dreadfully. My only sympathy lay with the chap who (forced by circumstances, it appears) jumps out of a window - seemingly a victim of fortune, the other actors/actresses and the author.

I noticed that one 5-star review referred to the emphasis on every action - including the quality of the acting in even basic activities like turning off a light. Maybe it's a sad reflection on myself that I'm not impressed by such details, nor by the time-shifting and mingling of a range of character traits. The attempt is to make links between a range of women, but they are all negative, depressing links - offering no glimmer ... Read More:

I watched the original 'Goal' movie last year, and thought even that was pushing it a bit.. Newcastle training behind some sort of old mansion, Alan Shearer demonstrating personality (it must only come out in films), and of course, the inevitable winning goals from Nunez, which you could predict before the game even started. So I gave Goal 2 a go and see if the formula had changed. It hasn't.
This is basically just the first film set in Spain. Munez meets up with his annoying cockney mate 'Harris' who loves life off the pitch rather than on it (I guess thats well spotted for these days). The 2 pair up at Real Madrid after, tieing in with reality, the move of Owen to Newcastle, making it appear as a swap deal.
And so it all un-ravels - he comes ... Read More:

After 4 years i finally watched this DVD right through, out of curiosity more then anything else. I admit the battle scenes were actually authentic, though perhaps a little OTT with the blood sometimes, although that was what warfare was like back then. They wanted to make a gritty and unromantic portrayal of the era and the filmmakers have succeded in doing that.
However i detected a faint whiff of liberalistic revisionism. I thought Arthur was supposed to be a christian hero, not some wishy washy pelagian.

The roles and character of the historical figures of bishops pelagius and germannus seem to have been completely inverted. Pelagius' erroneus ideas caused a lot of trouble and confusion amongst the church in britain and europe at this time, Germannus ... Read More:

Spy Game is everything we're not supposed to expect from a major Hollywood movie: engrossing, intelligent, well written, acted and directed. But that's just what it is and more, this is definitely the best thing I've seen since Memento. Although Pitt is really good and Redford plays himself as well as he has in years, I think the most credit should go to Tony Scott. In the hands of a lesser director this could have been something more like Mission Impossible. But Scott stays right on target, keeping us interested, developing the characters, and keeping the pacing nearly perfect. Scott also shows us that he's stayed with the times: he employs the full array of modern camera tricks like fast motion, reverse zooms and funky lenses but in a way that actually makes the film better instead ... A Great film this. I've lent this to other friends and family members to watch and they loved it. It is very good - it would definitely be a great present for someone.

I bought this DVD after setting aside the reviews listed here as probably overdone, and after all this should be an 'artistic' film. Well, the other reviewers are correct, this is pretentious rubbish and no excuses that it is an 'art-house' film will disguise the fact. John Malkovich wanders through the film saying and doing little. You will learn nothing of the life of Gustav Klimt. The 'extra' of director Raoul Ruiz explaining his work simply serves to confirm your worst fears; he had no comprehensible plan or story in mind and just doodled from scene to scene. A complete waste of time.

I quite like Sandra Bullock but this just seemed to be predictable drivel. Don't waste your time.
