One of my favourite films. This has incredible one liners, great slapstick, Bill Murray at his best and a really strange but completely great premise behind the whole thing.

Superb.

I can remember splitting my sides when I first saw Arthur at the cinema back in 1982. I had never seen the film since and when I bought the DVD I was looking forward to a treat.

I was quite disappointed. I still think the film is very funny and one of Dudley Moore's best but I don't think the DVD did it justice at all.

My biggest problem was with the sound. If you turned it up loud enough to hear all the punch lines then Arthur's cackling became absolutely deafening. The picture looked old and tired and frankly could have been mastered better.

I bought the film "10" at roughly the same time and there is no comparison. That film has aged a lot better although in fact it is slightly older.

I take nothing away ... Read More:

The opening joke takes about one tenth of the total film time to set up and fails to deliver a laugh (for the simple reason that the punchline is entirely predictable and the delivery contains little else that is worth the trouble of watching). After this, there seems no reason to continue viewing. Already bored senseless, I couldn't take the insipid interrogation scene that follows.

Reader, I buried this deadly dull dvd in the depths of my time capsule, only to be opened when life has lost flavour and time drags eternal (as it did for twenty minutes in front of this uncelebrated cure for insomnia).

I didn't come to this film for a Marlowe-in-the-flesh type experience, but I was hoping for some sort of experience. I didn't come with an ... Read More:

DVD : Tombstone [1993]
Tombstone is an immensely enjoyable western. And this version - the Vista series / Director's Cut - is the best one to get. I ordered it from the USA and it came in immaculate condition in an amazingly short time; but what's on it?

There are 3 bite sized featurettes (about 10 mins each): An Ensemble Cast; Making An Authentic Western; The Gunfight at the OK Corral. There is an Interactive Timeline of the actual events as they took place, Director's Storyboards, an Actual Newspaper Account (which you navigate around to read in your own time), a DVD-Rom featuring the game of Faro (the game Wyatt Earp runs in the film), also a fold out map of the actual layout of Tombstone including the OK Corral, an Insert booklet and not least - a director's commentary by Goerge P Cosmatos. ... Death Wish is considered to be a classic movie and even though it was first released in 1974, it still stands the test of time.

A respectable New York civil engineer's life changes when his wife is murdered and his daughter is raped in their own apartment while he's at work. After a business trip to Tucson, Arizona (where he is given a pistol as a leaving present) he then returns to New York and reinvents himself as a vigilante.

I wonder how the New York tourist authorities took to this when it first came out... Death Wish is a dark tale - as expected, there's little cheer in this movie. It's also a rather slow starter - for example, Paul Kersey (the protagonist) doesn't bump off his first mugger until the 44th minute (it's a 93 minute movie). Once he gets into the swing ... DVD : Manhunter--Special Edition
This film is the on-screen-birth of Dr. Hannibal Lecktor (as he's written in this movie!). The DVD not only offers the theatrical cut but includes the director's version, too. As a matter of fact, the two versions have not only differences in cuts and lengths (for more informations look through the net) but the director's cut is a bit darker (see this two sites with comparisons of the two film versions:

To the film itself:
I had to watch it few times, before I got warm with it. Maybe I expected more Lecter or something like that. But the more I watched, the more I started to like. Right now I maybe watched the movie about five times and I'm ... Read More:
