One of my favourite films. This has incredible one liners, great slapstick, Bill Murray at his best and a really strange but completely great premise behind the whole thing.

Superb.

Highly underrated movie that should have won oscars for everything from the direction to the screenplay to the cinematography, to the camera work, to the editing to the haunting and dramatic music score. This film has it all and it all comes off superbly well even if it is a little predictable in places.

This is also Gene Hackman at his stupendous best. A stunning performance that is arguably one of the best of all time--to be honest I like him here even more than I do Brando in the Godfather. He steals every single scene and he knows it, putting a riveting performance in its own right by Willem Defoe almost but not quite in the shade. Hackman's secret could well be that he never gives the impression that he's acting, but that this is for real. ... Read More:

This was the film that made me realise how much I love movies. But, I once saw a version of this movie in chronological order and it wrecked it. The brilliance is in the backwards storytelling.

Hollywood at its very very best. The performances from Al Pacino especially & Russell Crowe were spellbinding. An intelligent & totally absorbing film.

I normally don't go for Disney family movies like this, but I'm a sucker for a good switching places gimmick. Basically, the plot revolves around Jamie Lee Curtis (the single mom) and Lindsay Lohan (the stereotypically rebellious teenaged daughter) switching bodies for a day after eating some magical fortune cookies. No joke, that's the cause of it. I expected to leave a certain amount of my brain at the door when watching this, so I didn't let this affect my outlook on the rest of the movie. The film's biggest downfall is that the mom and daughter, after switching bodies, don't really encounter any major problems that the average family can relate to. I mean, the mother comes from an upper-middleclass background and makes $70 an hour as a Psychiatrist. So the biggest problem ... Read More:

The remake of 'Mon Pere Ce Heros' catered for a Hollywood audience and is probably the better known of the two outside the French Speaking world. I prefer the original; blame it on the Mauritian bias but objectively it's true. The original is more flowing and I recommend watching it before the remake.
This was recently issued in France on DVD under the title "Mon Père Ce Héros". When I bought it, I imagined it to be a film where Gérard Depardieu takes his daughter on holiday to Mauritius ( a film which I had seen and enjoyed several years ago ). What was my surprise when they ended up in the Bahamas, and the daughter wasn't the same actress as I had seen originally. On checking, I find that this is a remake of the original film. They should have issued it on DVD under the title ... Read More:

Kevin Bacon(wild things) puts up an Oscar worthy performance as an abused occupant of The Alcatraz Prison. Christian Slater(true romance) also does well but is shadowed by Bacon and co star Gary Oldman(the scarlet letter).

The story is chilling and dark and Bacon portrays his character to perfection. Brad Dourif(urban legend, child's play) also stars as another shady character trying to put a stop to the Slater/Bacon appeal.

If there was one thing that the writers could have done to improve the story to appeal to a larger audience was, they could have made the story faster and smoother, to get rid of the inconsistency's. 'Murder In' is however, a great film with worthy performances by the whole cast.

I loved the Garfield cartoons as a kid. To find out they were finally doing a live action movie was quite exciting, although unfortunately like school uniform, you grow out of it as you get older.

Having said that its very interesting to watch if you're familiar with the cartoon, but if you hated that, then the films will not turn your opinion.

The first movie is just a basic cartoon theme brought to life, the second movie expands a little further out with more character voices. I'd certainly prefer the second one with voices from the likes of Bob Hoskins, Jane Horrocks, Vinnie Jones and Tim Curry and of course the always funny Billy Connolly as the jealous Lord.

But the tragic thing is, there's nothing at all magical about either of them, certainly Bill Murray's voice ... Read More:

A friend at work said I should watch this, it was great entertainment and lots of fun. My Mother watched it with me and loved it so much she even waited till the end of the DVD before she went to the toilet in case she missed anything: a record for her. Really good entertainment and recommended.
