This film demands on putting every person into sterioticial roles, even on the front cover it has pictures of the main charecters and labels them like Geek or Sex freak. This can be sometimes funny but mainly annoying because nobody is just one thing. This film is slightly surial and although having a frankly ludicrous basis it handles it with humour and charm. Not being an American teen movie its significantly less glossy and is much more gritty. After being set up on a date this girl desides to go to this virtual reality confrence where she desighnes her perfect man. but while she is making him there is a explosion and the man she creats come to life. This movies really isnt as simple as it seems there are very many twists and turns. ... Read More:

DVD : I Want You (Beloved) [1998]
Winterbottom doesn’t make conventional British films. His work has the austere demeanour and freewheeling sense of experimentation that we normally associate with the European aesthetic of filmmakers like Kieslowski or Bergman. This ideology is further established on the film in question, with the director employing A Short Film About Killing’s cinematographer Slavomir Idziak to create the noirish underworld of disintegrating costal beach-huts and seedy promenades where his mysterious characters come to congregate. It’s one of those films that puts atmosphere before everything else... a film in which the long pauses between dialog, and the odd sideways glance of a character says more than an expositionary line of dialog ever ... DVD : Forgive And Forget [2000]
David and Theo have been best friends forever. Working class London lads, they do everything together. Then Theo meets Hannah and everything changes.

Steve John Shepherd gives an amazing performance as moody, charismatic David. When he's onscreen you just can't take your eyes off him. He conveys David's pain through looks and body language, increasingly uncomfortable in his skin. John Simm is convincing as the weedy Theo. The weak link is the absence of any chemistry between Theo & Hannah, which makes David & Theo's relationship a more believable prospect.

Hannah is such a pain I couldn't feel sympathetic. A previous lover was a two-timer, so now she thinks all men are the same. She sees David as a threat. ... Read More:

When I first saw this on ITV a couple of years ago I was VERY disappointed, and thought maybe viewing it again on this R1 DVD would let me see it from a more objective view. But if anything it looks worse!!

Please note that this version, that was shown in the USA has HUGE edits from the one on ITV. Whole sections are cut, from the start, which I thought was one of the best bits, (with Boudica giving a blade to the water in ritual). The interesting idea of a love story between one of Boudica's daughters and a Roman soldier.....this doesn't even make an appearance in this version. It's been hacked apart, and lost some of the best parts in what was mostly a poor production.

I had high hopes of Alex Kingston in the role, ... Read More:
