So here we are back for a second series, and is it as good as the first one? In the words of Jacquelin "Oh yes!" In fact this latest series may even contain the best episode ever! And that's, in my opinion episode two - the one where new character Mel (Madge's new partner and owner of five sunbed shops) blings it up BIG TIME, by dressing up like John Travolta from Saturday Night Fever at the karaoke night. He then murders a classic song by attempting to sing it in the same high pitched vocal style as the original. It made me cry with laughter, and it's worth buying this DVD just for that episode alone.

Benidorm is a real joy to watch, with a sharp script that is chock full of great oneliners, plus a superb cast that were so up for ... Read More:

The film is OK, and probably undeserving of the ire in many of the reviews here, but it's not a patch on the series itself, which is one of the finest things ever to come out of the BBC.

To me, the Christmas special will always be the "true" LoG movie.

An adult panto is not a novel idea as the odious Jim Davidson has produced a few but the League give it a new spin. The first half is sold to us as auditions for Legz Akimbo's Communo-Nativity .... it is really nothing of the sort! Actually what you get a few leftover scenes that have been harvested from the wastepaper bin.Not all the scenes seem to lead anywhere and its quite an undisciplined first act. Notice how the audience seem a bit underwhelmed and,to be fair, the League mention it in the commentary. (Act 1- 3 stars, just. Their poorest ever work.)

The second act is much better: big, brassy, camp and funny. As the panto plot kicks in the show picks up and the audience wakes up. Pauline, Mickey, Tubs and Edward make their appearances ... Read More:

Seriously people, open your minds. If you are one of the people saying series 1&2 are great and 3 is awful you probably do not understand the humour in any of them.

I love series 3, best yet. Darker, funnier (more intelliegent humour, more 'subtle' jokes and of course good old fashoined sketches). Some say the ending is sad, I think it is actually happy. I won't spoil it for people yet to buy the series - so buy it!

Never, in any comedy show I have ever watched, has a character so utterly sinister and yet so deeply hilarious as Papa Lazarou made such an impact with such little screen time. The first episode, when the circus comes to town and women are carted off with cries of "Dave... you're my wife now!" is comic perfection of the highest order. I laughed my bum off.

The League of Gentlemen are back, and this time they crank up the creepy lever a couple of notches. They find new ways to kill animals in spectacularly violent, explosive ways. They find new 'issues' to write plays for the kids about. And they throw in some plot lines.

The plot, such as it is, has several strands and runs throughout the series. There's the fatal nosebleed epidemic, ... Read More:

TV drama at its best, and clever into the bargain.

I only rented this because I wasn't sure, from what I had read, what I would make of it.

Now I've added it to my wishlist!

It's a bit of an odd concept - gritty northern drama meets musical meets murder investigation meets comedy - but it's very very well done, with a brilliant cast.

Morrissey is, as someone else has said, born to play this role; sleazy but compelling, by halfway through the first episode I very much wanted to see how he would turn out. A performance that makes what could have been a bit of a one-trick-pony character into a complex and interesting man, for whom, in spite of everything, one still has compassion. An outstanding performance.
