An interesting film but it's a full screen DVD with a widescreen letterbox. If you have a widescreen TV you will be disappointed.

Fancy making your life shorter by wasting some time on this little gem of a film? Yes? - Then there is no hope for you I'm afraid; just give up now. If the answer is no - well thats different. I watched this on the tv on saturday night and this film is simply awful. It had potential with the story and settings but threw it all away with non existent acting. Poor poor directing. Mis casting of good actors and a completly ruined blance between humour and horror. It just ends up being neither. But hey dont just take my word for it. I watched this with four of my friends and two got up and left the front room in the middle. One left leaving me on my own 10 minutes before the end of the film. And me for my sins watched the ending and went to sleep feeling ... Read More:

Violent, sadistic movie, without any redeeming features - didn't do anything for me. No, I lie. It gave me a lot of bad memory flashes. Switched it off quite quickly.
Nasty stuff.

Yes, it's not the most dramatic of serial killer biopics, nor the most intelligent (that honour would probably go to John McNaughton's excellent Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer), but the psychology is interesting: a violent pig farmer for a father, bible-spouting hell-raising "harpie" of a mother (use of that the word got Gein's brother killed for his pains) and educationally subnormal son, haunted by a fearful childhood, living alone in a remote house, reading about anatomy, death and head shrinkers while grave robbing to resurrect the recently dead. Definite recipe for disaster, that. Especially when he used bones of the dead to make furniture, amongst many other souvenirs!

Contrary to other reviews here, Gein's story was primarily the model for the Texas ... Read More:

I purchased this film for less than £2 so i was not expecting anything beyond a simple action film. WRONG - this film is one of the worst i have ever watched. From the begging we are subjected to the worst acting i have ever seen - seriousy! What follows is a total waste of time, rubbish sets and crappy villians. Total absence of talent and pride from everyone involved - just glad they didn't make a sequel!

This release contains both the original Alligator and its sequel Alligator 2-The Mutation.
Alligator-
Ramon, a pet baby alligator is flushed down the toilet, only to grow to a huge size after dieting on dead laboratory animals injected with growth hormones. It soon graduates to chomping on the population of Chicago, so dogged policeman David Madison(Robert Forster) joins forces with herpetologist Marisa Kendall(Robin Riker) to attempt to stop Ramon before he kills again.
Alligator is a brilliant monster movie, with a fantastic cast, a great story and above all a scary giant alligator. Robert Forster is a brilliant choice to play the hero, because he delivers a fantastic performance, and their are notable turns from Dean Jagger as oily crooked company boss Slade ... Read More:

Loner Steve Clark (James Marsden) and his family have just moved from Chicago to an idyllic village in the northwest. As he starts school, Steve finds the usual cliques, the strangest being a group called "the Blue Ribbons;" they're the handsomest jocks and most beautiful coeds and seem perfect but have a bad habit of beating people up - and getting away with it. Steve is befriended by a stoner (Nick Stahl) and a punk girl (Katie Holmes) who share his suspicions about the Blue Ribbons. Can they solve the mystery - in time?!

First of all, James Marsden is way too good-looking, charming, and old to play the outsider teen. He's extremely likeable and sincere, however, and was the only reason I kept watching to end, hoping this confusing mess would make sense. I guess it ... Read More:

Fans of the original will squirm in embarrassment at this travesty. It's a fluffy bunny version, every hard edge faithfully removed, a gruesome happy ending, a white DJ for God's sake! Cleavon Little must be spinning in his grave. Viggo Mortensen is wooden and unconvincing, and Jason Priestly is, well, white. Super Soul in the original was the Jiminy Cricket of the film, a marvelous creation, full of energy and vitality and, above all, SOUL! Lacking even the saving grace of the orginal soundtrack, at least this version retains the Dodge Challenger. But that's all, that really is all.

I saw this about a year ago and to be honest i dont really remember the whole of it now. However i will rate this 4 stars as its not a rubbish film at all, but wasnt quite jumpy enough for me and had some boring parts inbetween. I do remember a scene in a store in which the woman was trapped inside, that was a little jumpy and i just loved watching that scene.
Worth watching.
