Save yourself the money and buy the book instead. A remarkable man, a wonderful book, what a dud of a film. It skates accross what is in actual fact a very moving and sad story with a total disregard for the real story of the person. Not a patch on the book!

This film was such a disappointment for me, I really did expect a Great British gangster film that would show London's notorious criminals and how ruthless they were in their prime. Instead I found myself watching two clueless twins who are as intimidating as a pair of goldfish roaming London doing rather little. Their mother of the story is wrongly portrayed as an eccentric feminist and as for the music, well that belongs in a B movie horror. If you are considering buying this film please don't, it's really not worth it I assure you you will be as disappointed as me and be even more annoyed at the potentinal this film had.

Barry Lyndon hosts all the elements of something which is flawless, the genius of kubrick's vision and tenacity to gain perfection is seen through-out. Kubrick had custom camera lenses made by NASA so he could film in natural candle light only - this scene in paticular has a sense of texture and tone which a painting could provide. The performances are staggeringly brilliant and you feel the reserveness of the characters emotions and feelings, the battle scenes are shot with such beauty and realism that you believe what your seeing. On top of all that...this is the greatest rise and fall story ever told.

I think its worth a few pounds when you can possess this forever...

First: It is Blu-Ray and not a cheap copy of the DVD.
From movie to movie it gets even better.
The sound is well mixed. That means that you are not pushed
from your seats when explosions occur. The balance between speach and effects is perfect.

Except of the fourth part "John Rambo" you have nearly no extras.
Only one interview with Sly, but this is worth a look.

Of course there are no cuts. You can enjoy the complete movies.
This is interesting for german costumers. They also find the uncut
german-version on this. Very nice.

Good quality, price is fair. Clear recommandation!

An absolutely brilliant series, much better than the original TV series and dare i say it the original film! Having read all the books and recently watched the previous film and series i believe this to be the best so far. With great performances, especially the prescient twins Leto and Ghanima played by James McAvoy and Jessica Brooks, although i must say i enjoyed the whole cast and thought they all did a fantastic job. This coupled with the amazing effects and music, which although not the best the world hs ever seen does the job very nicely, especially when you think about the budget the series had in the first place.

As with all adaptations of books to screen not everything can be transfered although i must admit i was pleasantly surprised and felt that they ... Read More:

A jaded journalist steals another man's identity & gets embroiled in arms trafficking connected to North African liberation movements.
In the early 1970s there were many attempts to fuse the European art house movie with the Hollywood thriller - The Passenger is probably the most successful example, though today it will probably appeal to art house cinephiles more than to fans of typical Jack Nicholson blockbusters.
Antonioni was never better - almost every shot & frame is extraordinary but in an unostentatious way (not always the case with Antonioni!). The entire complicated final scene seems to be filmed in one long circular take, which will have technical types wondering how it was done. The plot, narrative & dialogue are as focused as any "New Hollywood" ... Read More:

Luke Goss gives rather a good performance in this confusing film. Half the time I could not work out what was going on. It is a rather bits and pieces biopsy on Charlie Richardson, London gangster from the sixties. I had the distinct impression that we are supposed to view him as a sorely wronged man, a Robin Hood type character, who was in effect not a ruthless thug who considered himself "superior" to the Krays, but that he was capable of great charitable works. His boast was that he got away with everything and he had the police in his pocket. When finally arrested, his defence resorted to trying nobble the judge. He was sentenced to 25 years and when released moved to Africa. At the end of the film we are told that nowadays his case would have been thrown out of court as all the witnesses for the ...
