This film took me back to being a child - I remember having the album and going to see it at the pictures. I bought it for my daughter who is 8 thinking she might like it. She loves it to bits and would watch it every night if she could. I too enjoyed watching it again. The songs are catchy and the dance routines are fab. Definately deserves its place in the top 100.I would say to those miserable people who have given it a bad review - if you hated it that much you should have stopped watching! Get a life!

Tony Blair is said to have liked this series and wished he could have had a prime minister's office run like the 'west wing'. Enough said.

A very typical moochy movie, based on the boy meets girl she plays hard to get scenario. Well worth watching, a tad slow in parts but still enough laughs and cute bits to keep you interested.

Sorry, but there's no excuse for the R2 copies of seasons two and three not being anamorphic transfers. Season two is cropped at the sides; season three requires you to zoom in. Get the R1 boxes instead. They're dual-sided discs, which isn't so great, but they have more extras and the boxes are slightly smaller. It's one of the best shows ever broadcast, so see it as it was meant to be seen!

The very best season of the series takes off in rocket pace after the season 1 cliffhanger of the shooting at Roslyn. It continues with some of the best acting I have ever seen on any screen. Janel Moloney's performance, the look on Donna's face when she learns Josh has been shot is nothing short of breathtaking. And likewise, Brad Whitford's portrayal of Josh' post traumatic stress disorder in "Noël" (quite possibly the best episode of the entire series) is equally captivating. We also get some good flashbacks, showing us how the gang got together in the first place. The story line is loosely based on a book by Alice Hoffman. It is more of the screen play by Robin Swicord who also did the screen play for "Matilda" (1996). Sisters Sally Owens (Sandra Bullock) and Gillian Owens (Nicole Kidman) are brought up by their maiden aunts after their parents died. They learn of magic and its pluses and minuses by observing their aunts from a distance. They also have to overcome (if possible) the family curse that the gentlemen in their lives are distending to meat an early demise. One highlight of the movie is when we find that the other women in the village really did not distain the Owens's; is just that they have not been invited to help. Based more on fantasy (or at best speculation) than fact. No one knows about the social structure of sabre-toothed cat society, so why pretend (in such detail) that we do. That's just one example. The visuals are splendid. The narrator's voice annoyed me. Sounded like a typical off-the-shelf narrator who understood nothing of the subject. Was taken aback to discover it was Kenneth Branagh.

I bought this, took it home and wrapped it for my child's birthday, and when she handled the parcel it began to sing "You're the One that I Want!" It was so funny, I didn't notice the little button on the box, and I'd somehow avoided hitting it. I could say more about the video, etc., but this is Grease! 1950s teen America recreated in all its black leather and pink satin glory in a boy/girl relationship musical. Cute and cheesy.
