Babylon 5 is one of my all-time favourite shows and although this pilot episode for the series is nowhere near as good as the show itself, it is still enjoyable. As the alien ambassadors gather on Babylon 5 the Vorlon representative Kosh is the target of an assassination attempt and the stations commander Jeffrey Sinclair is implicated.

Although not nearly as good as the series itself, this pilot does include some of the things that made Babylon 5 so good, such as an interesting plot and generally good writing. On the downside much of the CGI effects used here are rather poor and some of the acting on display is truly atrocious. There are a few changes between here and the series proper, with three of the characters being replaced and ... Read More:

This film, initially discovered part-way through on a rare French TV showing, must certainly rank as one of my favourites. It is one that I can watch over and over again without feeling bored. Everything is great in this film - the actresses, young, old and even the small children, the beautiful scenery, the emotions, a few comic moments to relieve the tension and definitely not least, the wonderful music. The final scene never fails to start a tear welling in my eye. I don't know if it is a faithful representation of the book which inspired it, but it stands up on its own two feet as a marvellous piece of cinema. I would certainly recommend it.

Having just watched this film for the first time, I think a good way to describe it is to compare it to a gig. To start off there are two pretty irrelevant stories by two unknown directors which both leave you thinking 'what's this all about?', kind of like the support act. But they do set the scene for the second half of the movie, showing that Roth as the bellhop is having a real bizarre night. Then the headliners come in, Rodriguez and Tarantino, both producing hugely entertaining and enjoyable short stories which make you really pleased you watched the film. The performances by Roth, Tarantino and Jennifer Beals also help the job... definitely worth watching!!

There have been three DVD boxsets of the Karate Kid movies. The first in 2001 I don't think had a remastered picture. The one in 2005 included the poor "fourth" movie with Hilary Swank as "The Next Karate Kid". This one released in 2007 has a remastered picture and some extras. On the each disc it has a few little interactive games. On the first disc - which does not match the picture of it (with Daniel and Miyagi) on the back of the box - it has a trailer of KK2. On the second it has a featurette about the sequel. The third disc claims to have a retrospective, outtakes and deleted scenes but I can't find them anywhere. Unlike other releases there are no easter eggs. Plus the whole boxset is is a card box rather than plastic so wear and tear is inevitable.

This is one of the best true love stories you could ever see on film. It follows an Irish immigrant to America (Dennis Quaid) who gets involved a little to deeply in politics, and then tries to leave it all behind to live a normal life. He meets a Japanese girl called Lillie and they quickly fall in love. It's love at first sight for Jack and they run off to get married (her family does not approve)

The film then charts their young lives during a terrible period for all japanese families living in America, when Pearl Harbour was attacked!

Not to spoil what happens, but the lovers are separated and there is eventually a happy ending.

I love this film so much, I think Dennis Quaid is a brilliant leading man anyway but I watch it frequently even ... Read More:
