This is the one I put on! Have had a videoed version from the TV for a long time but it wore a bit thin from over-use so have just replaced with DVD version.
There's so much to like...the beautiful scenery for a start, the chap who plays Matthew (double yum), the heart-warming tale of community spirit (where did it go?..) the goofy dealer who plays dungeons and dragons, looks like he might duff you up but plays bouncy folk music in his wacky car, and the bit with Matthew and Grace are alone on the beach which cracks me up every single time - I mean really, laugh out loud stuff, it's contagious and a real boost to your health!
No deep and meaningful story but it's so English and charming and lovable, just like Martin Clunes! Wonderful.

With the two big-name stars and direction from Michael Bay this should be a treat for fans of the original, but any premise of a story is lost amid a blur of tiresome dialogue and explosive action sequences. This movie will appeal to young boys and men who spend too much time with their playstations.

James Bond (Brosnan) investigates the mysterious dealings of Goldeneye, a satellite which was kidnapped by a group of Russians.

Pierce Brosnan's (Mamma Mia!) first role as the famous British spy is probably his finest to date with specific and exciting acting, not to mention he is the cheekiest and smartest Bond since Connery.

Six years Bond fanatics had to wait after `Licence to Kill' was released in 1989 and weren't we treated? Goldeneye has everything a Bond fan could ever wish for, high action, attractive female leads and a fantastic trio of villains to make the ultimate knockout action thriller.

Brosnan's performance is excellent and really helps gain that edge of your seat excitement but also an ultimate relaxed feeling ... Read More:

...Wherein a German filmmaker by the name of Roland Emerich makes a film where evil British Redcoats commit a vile atrocity against American freedom fighters... an atrocity that in reality was perpetrated by German troops against French villagers in WWII. Nice one Roland. What are you going to do next - make a film where the British gas 12 million people in Auschwitz before the plucky German freedom fighters come to the rescue?

After six years in limbo as EON and the new owners of MGM/UA found themselves and the series locked in legal action at lawsuits, Timothy Dalton decided too much time had elapsed to renew his licence to kill, ushering in the Brosnan era. At the time hailed for `saving' the series (just as Dalton and Moore had been before him), the star's own bitter feud with the producers and the success of Daniel Craig in reinventing the role seem to have combined with disappointment with some of Brosnan's subsequent Bond films to the point where it's harder and harder to find any Bond fans with a good word to say about his tenure. But in 1995 GoldenEye was certainly welcomed with open arms and blockbuster business and it holds up remarkably well.

A visually stunning drama, and performance, accounting the story of Columbus and, his conquest, to find the new world. I found this film to be both, exciting, and from a historical view, fascinating, giving a great insight to what life was like back then.
What really makes this film special, is the stunning acting of, Depardieu. He really brings the character of Columbus to life, with so much drive and passion, to follow his dreams despite, ridicule and uninterest of his plan from others.
The film is brilliantly directed, as you'd expect from a great Director such as, Riddley Scott, and very atmospheric.
A great story, and, what I consider, a true movie classic.
I myself, have been on the replica Santa maria, moored in Barcelona harbour, that columbus ... Read More:

I'm a big fan of action films, with cop movies topping the bill. Having read the other reviews here I had high hopes for this film - I ignored the occasional negative review reasoning that any film with Will Smith in it can't be that bad. How wrong I was!

The cinematography is lush and colourful, helped significantly by the Miami backdrop. And that is about as far as my compliments can reach I'm afraid - the film rapidly falls apart from the first moment the characters open their mouths.

The script here is utterly dreadful! Whilst similar untaxing commercial offerings such as the likes of Lethal Weapon or Die Hard give you witty and slick lines, Bad Boys instead resorts to perpetual bickering between the protagonists. It soon becomes tiresome and ... Read More:

As the title of this review indicates, this is one of the lessons they don't teach in school, and this is precisely what the film explores. Once the realization has been made that there is no way to return to the way things were, then the anger sets in, and in the case of this film the bar is continually raised by the two protagonists on ways to exact vengeance, to entertaining - and possibly cathartic - effect for the viewer.

It is wittily written, smoothly directed and edited, lovely to look at and features a camera obscura. It is also one of the most European films I have ever seen come out of America - definitely to its credit. It is dark and light in all the right places and the actors (particularly Karyo, who is always a pleasure to watch) are right on form. Much ... Read More:

The subject is interesting. The topic is fascinating. The treatment is quite reassuring. But the ideology is hateful. Imagine some natural, geological or cosmic catastrophe meaning the end of the earth, hence of humanity. The loss of the magnetic field of the earth is one possibility since it has been going down for a few decades and no one can explain. If such a phenomenon were truly happening, the normal reaction would be to bring all scientists around the world together to find a solution. There cannot be any moral and acceptable salvation for humanity, or even a little part of humanity if it does not mobilize everyone, every country, every nation. The film is unluckily hijacked by the military that imposes the vision of some aggressive attack from an enemy. They seem to listen to the ... Read More:
