this film is quite comical really but it actually entertains you throughout and there is plenty of action to keep you interested.
i prefer this to eastwoods earlier war film "where eagles dare" this is definatly more enjoyable and lighthearted. but the real star of this film is old kojack himself who puts in a sterling effort trying to control his troops but will they get their gold ?

A sequel of sorts to "The Longest Day," (same director, some of the same actors like Fonda playing different characters), this is one of the best restorations of a film I've seen in recent years. The picture and sound have been digitally remastered and 17 minutes of previously-unseen footage has been added (you even get a hilarious 1960s intermission card onscreen halfway through, how's that for restoring everything!). The film looks and sounds brand new again and there are new things to enjoy.

Having said that, the film itself doesn't do justice to the real Battle of the Bulge or Ardennes Offensive as it is also called. The real battle was fought in blizzard conditions, there are scenes in this film that look like summertime with ... Read More:

It was not easy taking over from Connery especially for a model rather than an actor. Geroge Lazenby's biggest screen presence up until this movie was as the Big Fry man in the Fry's chocolate adds. Based on that lack of experience it is hard to credibly argue that this is anything less than a triumph for Lazenby.

There are a few who have commented on the woodeness of his acting but this just doesn't work as an argument when the same people praise Roger Moore, whom I think eventually retired due to woodworm. The reason for all the special effects and gadgets, that became such an integral part of the Moore era Bond movies, was that him acting ability only stretched todelivering a one-liner whilst raising his eyebrow. Considering that Moore ... Read More:

This film features a special mission team in the thick of World War 2 before D-Day parachuted behind Nazi lines for a special destruction mission. The operation is fiction but there are similar covert missions during the war.The main strategy of the team is to deceive, shock and rapidly destroy the enemy. Similar tactics were also used by Nazis during the war in the European theatre. Nazi soldiers disguised as American soldiers tried to disrupt the logistics and supply lines. The film is shot with a wide range of stars sucj as Lee Marvin, Telly Salavas, John Cassevetes, Charles Bronson, Ernest Borgnine, Donald Sutherland et al. They do brilliant acting especially Slavas and Cassevetes. The whole chateu is constructed for the film and after 25 days of shootings it ... Read More:

This film apparently enjoys a reputation as a 'cult classic'. While I've seen worse films, it's not really what I'd call a great film, or even a good film. This Spanish made production has the feel of a spaghetti western with its unconvincing performances and bad dubbing. Here's the plot: English scientist Christopher Lee, intent on proving the theory of evolution, brings a neanderthal ape like fossil discovered in China on board an oriental express train. Peter Cushing plays another scientist, whose curiousity is responsible for unleashing the monster on the unsuspecting passengers, who are rendered into zombies after encountering it. Telly Savalas makes an appearance as a sadistic drunken cossack towards the end. Can they save the remaining passengers from a similar ... Read More:

No Bond film has suffered as much historical and critical revisionism as On Her Majesty's Secret Service. A huge hit on its first release and no better or worse reviewed than any of the preceding Bonds, George Lazenby's decision to leave the series before the film was released led to a tidal wave of attacks from the press and spurned co-producer Albert R. Broccoli (who even removed Lazenby's face from the original US poster!) that cast such a dark shadow over the film that the fact it's one of the highpoints of the series slipped from the public consciousness. Instead it became the Bond that flopped (if taking more than ten times its cost can be called flopping), the Bond that everybody hated (there were plenty of rave reviews to prove otherwise) with the Bond so bad he ... i have been adding to my war collection that contains many of the greats , and when i saw the good reviews this film was getting i bought it "hook line and sinker".
this ain't no war film its more like a very bad carry on spoof ,its embarrassing watching roger moore and the even more dreadful elliot gould try to goof their way to a pay day.i sat there totally baffled as to what nonsense i was watching in one scene a german in the guntower is taken out with a sling shot from over 50 yds its totally farcical from beginning to end {please believe me} , the only thing worth watching is the beautiful stephney powers.i must own over 700 dvd's and this is the worst by a very big margin ,i honestly have not seen a worst film from a quality cast in all my life.

Once quietly groundbreaking for its racial politics - OssieDavies' escaped slave is by far smarter than any of the film's white characters, quite a bold move for a mainstream movie even in 1967 - seen today The Scalphunters is one of those films that's enjoyable but never quite as good as it could be. Former IRA gunrunner turned screenwriter William Norton's almost Dickensian dialogue in the first third of the movie is so good that it's a shame that the plot separates Burt Lancaster and Ossie Davies for so long and while it makes some smart points about racism along the way there's a feeling of the film almost running down rather than building up to a climax. Still, Elmer Bernstein's score is one of the best ever written for a Western, alternatively rousingly vivid, jauntily ... Read More:
