Picture this: Circa 1975, A class of 32 bored, inner city school, O level English kids, dragged off to an arts cinema to see a showing of Polanski's Macbeth. We settled down for a boring couple of hours messing about and talking. Five minutes into the film, you could have heard a pin drop. We were hooked.
We went from complete disinterest, to shakespeare fans in one afternoon. I will always be grateful to that young english teacher (whatever her name was?) for igniting a lifelong interest in literature. If our Headmaster/parents had known what we were going to see, I'm sure the trip would never have happened! But the quality of acting was such, that suddenly we all knew and understood olde worlde english, something which carried on through ... Read More:

I have to say that many of my friends thought this would be a waste of money..... a 30 year old film wouldn't be worth buying on Blu-Ray if you had the DVD. WRONG! This was so much better than I expected, the grafitti scene alone was stunning, you could see every instance! If you are a fan..... invest or be a very naughty boy!

I did not know what to expect when i got this film about a lecturer who is possessed by the spirit of occult obsessive aleister crowley after entering a virtual reality machine that has his thoughts and teachings programmed in it. What i got was an amazing viewing experience. Simon Callow is amazing as aleister giving him a multi layered personality, the screen just lights up whenever he is on and he dominates this movie. But acting overall is fantastic in this movie. Some of the scences of sexual occultism are quite shocking but it is never to ott and helps keep the realism the film has created. The only downside is the slighlty crazy last sequance where it almost ruins a perfectly crafted film. A must see for anyone interested in crowley or any one ... Read More:

Dangerfield was an excellent series which has lost none of its freshness despite being over a decade old. All series were interesting, multi-layered, due to the blending of medical issues and crime, and very enjoyable as well. Series 2 was almost certainly the best with it's hard-hitting story lines and excellent acting, but the entire series is well worth watching more than once.
The question is, now that the BBC has finally decided to release Series 1 and 2, is there a chance that all series, (there were 6 in all, with Nigel Havers taking over from the very talented Nigel Le Valliant in the later series) will be released as well - and soon as there are no new episodes to come.It is not very encouraging for buyers when they do not get the opportunity ... I agree with the last reviewer. This is a series which I made a point of watching. The faultless cast includes a young Ewan McGregor and the excellent Roy Hudd. It must be over 10 years since I've seen it and I'd like to watch it again. Shame there is no DVD release as yet.
