have seen this film more than a dozen times and it never stops to amaze me.. the perfect film combination of a history lesson, action/adventure, suspence and romance, cant believe that the oscars of its year missed it.. many great characters with most given relative depth, and a daniel day-lewis perfectly casted, establishing himself after winning the oscar for my left foot and showing of what is to come from him: in the name of.., gangs of ny, the crucible, there will be blood more recently.
A superb multi-layered story, hard and bloody at times but also soft and romantic.. one of the best music scores ever on film (!), visually stunning with breathtaking picture and cinematography, one of these films that makes u think "thats what ... Read More:

Everyone had gone on about this film for years telling me how brilliant it was so I decided I'd beter watch it! I have to say I have seen better films involving dance or someone coming from a bad background and finally 'making it'. It was a good experience and the music was great but I'd much rather watch something like 'Center Stage' or even the second 'Dirty Dancing' again and again than this more than once.

In this film, a young girl, played by Anna Paquin, has to go and stay with her Father after her Mother dies in a car accident. At first, the young girl is depressed and fails to find her feet in the strange new surroundings of Ontario, but eventually discovers some purpose after discovering an entire family of abandoned Geese eggs who she nurtures through the hatching stage.

In the process known as imprinting, the Geese latch onto the young girl and follow her everywhere, but then the girl and her Father have to think about training the young geese to fly, and do this with the help of two aircraft which the Father has designed and built himself. All of this is based on a true story.

This film is sweet, poignant, and has much to say ... Read More:

*****POSSIBLE SPOILERS IN MY REVIEW*********

This is in my top 5 greatest ever movies, falling only behind Goodfellas, Stand By Me and Casino.

I watched the film first and then read the book, and I don't think it matters which way you do it because they are both outstanding masterpieces.

This film will make you feel nauseas, it will make you frustrated, angry, upset, relieved and then leave you with a tear in your eye. I challenge you to hate a movie character from any other movie as much as you hate the guards in this film, you will rebel and support a murder in cold blood, and be thankful when the guilty murderers walk free at the end of it. It is a story of revenge, bitter yet just revenge.

I highly recommend ... Read More:

I have every film adapted from John Grisham's novels except for The Gingerbread man, without a shadow of a doubt this is at best an okay film, it does not even begin to touch A time to kill, The Client, Runaway jury or The Chamber and whilst not being blown away by either The Rainmaker nor The Pelican brief, they are both comfortably better films than this.

The film lacks the power, conviction and the direction of all of those films listed.

An excellent cast with 2 of my favourite actors in Gene Hackman and Tom Cruise, but even they are not at their best by some way, the only reason why Tom Cruise stands out is due to his being on screen for most of the film, Gary Busey is barely in the film, maybe a couple of minutes at best.

An engrossing show that is hard hitting. The narration is a bit annoying and on the whole unnescessary, although occasionally it doesn add a thought provoking point or commentary.

I don't usually watch prison drmams, but decided to give this a go having read positive reviews- and I'm glad I did. It is dark and offers an antidote to syrupy sentimental drama, to implausible dramas, or to those relying on thinly drawn characters.

Each episode develops the characters further, and the storylines are high quality allowing tensions and dynamics to be explored. In fact this is quite an intersting study in psychology.

Worth a look.

I first watched this film with no idea as to the story, other than what is written on the back of the DVD box. And I am so glad I did. Having now read the novel upon which it is based, I have to admit it is one of the very best adaptations I have ever seen. The music, costumes and script are perfect and the acting superb. Gillian Anderson gives a particularly stunning performance as Lily Bart, the tragic heroine.
I have chosen not to give away the plot in the hope you'll take my word and give it a go, but I challenge you not to cry.

I first watched this film when I was about fourteen and have vivid, although somewhat cringy memories of re-enacting with my friend, the method which the alien body snatchers use to identify the real humans, i.e, pointing and screaming like a fog horn. Not my finest hour, but my point is, that this film left a lasting impression and watching it again recently made me realise how scary it really is.

You might well know the plot line, since there are so many re-makes, but to sum up: Family move to army base- soon people start acting strangely, or are taken away screaming into the night. The body snatchers are here and they want you!

One of the eeriest moments is when the female lead, Marty's younger brother does a picture at nursery and it becomes apparent that all the other ... Read More:

This has to be one of the most inspirational family and wildlife films ever made. Exactly why it has a PG rating, I will never know as there is nothing offensive about it. This is simply a, beautifully filmed, clean and inspirational film that leaves the audience in tears of joy. If you love wildlife - get this film *****
