I bought this film not expecting too much, maybe another boring gangster flick like Essex boys, man was i wrong. From start to finish this film had me hooked. The violence and fighting is constant, but more importantly its believable. Based on a true story it charts one mans life from his early days as a football hooligan to one of Englands most feared and respected figures in the Essex criminal underworld. For fans of gangster movies, British movies, films with loads of fighting. or just good films. This is a must see must buy 10/10

'Rise of the Footsoldier' is a run of the mill British gangster flick that is interesting enough until about three quarters of the way through. It gets pretty tedious towards the end.

As a fan of hip hop and and Tartan movies I thought this was going to be a guaranteed winner. Wrong, this is utter drivel and I am amazed by the other reviews. The acting is none existent, it looks like a group of mates who have never acted in their lives made a film and decided to act in it. The storyline is unrealistic and boring and the soundtrack only has a couple of good tracks. Don't waste your money. Go and watch a classic like New Jack City or Juice instead of this cheap rubbish.

sid james is the kind of person who you wish was still here today,there was just something about the man which makes you smile,the face and the yak yak laugh was made for fish & chips style british comedy. bless this house the movie is still a good laugh,sid plays "sidney abbott" the head of the abbott household,his main problems in life revolve around his two kids mike & sally (robin askwith & judy geeson) who constantly cause him loads of trouble. there's lots of funny moments in the movie,i like the scene where sid has a cake fight with his snooty neighbour (played by the great "terry scott") other good performances come from peter butterworth,june whitfield and patsy rowlands. it's a good spin off from the still funny bless this house tv series,if you ...
