I've never seen Evita on stage, but from watching this film it becomes very obvious that that is where this story belongs, and although certain musicals have translated very well into films ('the Phantom of the Opera' and 'Hairspray' being two that spring immediatley to mind), this is one of those that I feel should have been left on stage. Saying that however, watching this film has made me very keen to see the musical in it's original format one day, and it is just a shame that it is no longer being shown in the West End.

Whenever Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice get togther for a musical, you know you're going to be in for a treat, and no matter what other reservations I have about this film, there is no doubting that musically, ... Read More:

As a fan of the Corrs I bought this film out of curiosity to view how Andrea Corr would act, but surprisingly I got a good funny movie.

Jimmy (played by Colm Meaney) comes over from swinging (the film is set in the 60's) Liverpool to win the Irish ceilidh band contest, while his brother Johnjoe (played by Bernard Hill) comes from county Clare to reclaim the Ceilidh band title. Anne (Andrea Corr) is Johnjoe's star fiddler, but kept firmly under thumb by her embittered mother Maise (Charlotte Bradley). Trouble ensues, as estranged brother Jimmy attendance rakes up the past, whilst much Irish music is played!

Andrea Corr acts with sincerity and charm. Bernard Hill is charismatic as bachelor Johnjoe. Also Shaun Evans should be commended ... Read More:

I've seen this film on youtube in parts and when I was 8 years old, I forgot all about it how brilliant this film is, I love it, I'm definitely going to get it on DVD. Great film for the whole family! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!

Listen to Josh singing "O Holy Night". I have listened to many versions of this song, but this is an absolutely spell-binding, spine-tingling experience. Worth buying the DVD as Josh is gorgeous to look at as well!

The Corrs have been famous now for quite some time as the mainly female talented Irish traditional rock/pop band with a really fresh approach. With super talent you can't help being drawn into this musical dvd with the small studio close-ups and absolutely breathtaking surround sound. The title "No Frontiers" almost explains the quality of this top notch musical effort with hits such as Runaway,At your side and So Young stealing the limelight as well as the fantastic instrumental of Toss the feathers. This is a highly under-rated musical dvd which is guaranteed to entertain if you like the Corrs or into this genre of music and maybe even if your not just give it a whirl.....highly recommended

If the producers of this DVD were so pressed for time, surely we could have lost some of the more dreadful and totally out of their depth "acts" such as S Club Seven and preserved once in a life time moments such as McCartney singing "Her Majesty" to the Queen (who definitely was not amused by it!).

Other than that an OK record of the night.

Have to say I'm amazed by the comments praising Will Young's slaughtering of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine". Sorry, but my idea of soul is not a grating, nasal whine with the occasional flat note. Almost as embarrasing as him twittering and twitching beside James Brown at Scottish Live 8 while the seventy-odd year old Brown wiped the floor with him.

Appalling.

This is a great concert DVD. The concert is in 16:9 anamorphic widescreen, and some of the extras (like short documentaries) are in 4:3. You even get a selection of different camera angles for some songs in the concert (though on one DVD player the bit where the alternate angles were available displayed a big graphic across the whole screen - but that's the player's fault not the DVD's. It was better on a Blu-ray player but not all of them have a button labelled "angle" to change the angle while the concert is still playing - so on some players you need to press Info first then scroll down to change it).

Picture Quality: Good picture considering it's an SD DVD and an older DVD (so probably didn't use HD/digital cameras), and it's probably a bit softer than ... Read More:

As always with the Corrs, this is a fantastic DVD to watch. They simply have fun!

i have just one criticism of the production: Too often there are stray cameramen darting out of view from another camera. Stay still and you are less conspicuous!

If you like to watch a bunch of musicians simply having fun together, watch this.

The music is obviously excellent - but turn the volume down and it's still amazing to watch. The smiles, the laughter, and the communication within the group is brilliant.
