DVD : Criminal Minds - Series 2 [2007]
Having really enjoyed the first season of criminal minds I decided to get season 2 without seeing it on TV first (sadly they don't show it on channel 5 here in the UK anymore). I'm so glad that I did. It is billiant. Just like the first series it has a mix of interesting storylines and further character development from the first season. I enjoyed every episode of this season. Season 2 wasn't without it's shocks either, in the episode 'The Boogeyman' the identity of the UNSUB was absolutley shocking and I never saw it coming. I cannot recommend this season highly enough, it's fantastic. I hope season 3 will be released in the UK very soon.

"Criminal Minds", on paper, is exactly the type of television I love. The premise - and the reviews - promise a slick, intelligent crime series, with clever plots and intriguing characters. The reality is that this DVD box set has disappointed me. "Criminal Minds" is only really in fact a guilty pleasure; it all looks great, but the truth is that the series is remarkably shallow and derivative, with ultimately little to say.

Yes, the production values are high, the cast all look fantastic, and other aspects, such as the incidental music, is effective, if hardly subtle. But the scripts and characterisation on offer mean that this series can only be an exercise in mindless TV fun, and nothing more.

What a lethal combination of sickly sweet Ron Howard 'magic' and Tom Cruise and his poor acting skills. Yet again you see quite clearly that he is pretending and not giving a convincing performance like a genuine actor would. Not that it matters in a tatty, amateur film like this romanticised depiction of the Irish invasion of America. Professional to the end, Nicole Kidman struggles to act well with her performance being dragged down by the sub drama school style of little Mr Cruise. Like with most Ron Howard films it is trashy, lacking depth and is just an excuse for an all American group hug. It makes me want to vomit. Also, Cruise survives all the way through to the credits, yet again, which is disappointing to all those who can't identify with him ... Read More:

Todd is very much the essence of metrosexual. He takes pride in his appearance, worries about hair loss and takes longer in the shower than his ex wife. His layabout brother Barry places a lonely hearts advert for him in the 'men seeking men' category. After a few emails and no photo exchange Todd goes on his date to meet Kelly. Kelly of course is a hunky guy and as soon as they can both laugh about it, they decide to pay the brother back by pretending that the date went really well and Todd has discovered his inner gay.
This leads to a snowball effect of friends, family and coworkers all believing (a bit too easily for Todd's liking) that he is actually gay. No-one wants to listen when he says it was a joke, and as his friendship with Kelly begins to develop, ... Read More:

I enjoyed this witty, intelligent and moving serial when it was first aired in the UK. I've since watched it a couple of times on DVD and it stands up very well. The performances from all the lead actors are impressive, and the way the different plots are interwoven is an object lesson in unforced artifice. There are so many good gags, so many plot twists, and so many moments of true pathos that it's impossible to point to the highlights. Suffice to say that, if you buy or rent this, you've got real entertainment.

Without a doubt, Lauren Ambrose (Florence 'Chicklet' Forrest) is the star of this production, formerly of 'Six Feet Under'. Her multiple personalities (you'll never guess why) are hilariously portrayed. She is supported by a surprisingly well known cast: Thomas Gibson (Greg from 'Dharma & Greg'; Nicholas Brandon from 'Buffy'; Kimberley Davies from 'Neighbours'; Beth Broderick from 'Sabrina the teenage witch' and Amy Adams and Matt Kesslar from various productions).

The plot is a little thin, but is borne out well. There are sufficient one-liners and underlying motifs to make this an enjoyable viewing. I'm not convinced about the detective (Charles Busch), but am happy to presume it's a cult thing.

Happily recommended for when there's nothing ... Read More:

I already loved the show so there are no complaints here. On each disc there is one episode with commentary by Jenna Elfman and the actors who play her mother and father. Not bad.
My only complaint is the setup of the DVD. There is no option for playing all episodes in one go. After each episode there is a three-step process to get to the next one. Unnecessarily clumsy.
But for anyone who likes to laugh, Dharma and Greg are guaranteed to brighten your day!

Like an old friend I watched Love and Human Remains and it slotted into my life as easily as angst slotted in to my late teen life when I first watched the film. Dark and real, and with that terrific scene of manners in the living room, what more could you possibly want? Terrific acting, an attractive but not like they know it cast, and smooth Canada. 5 stars!

I brought this DVD without viewing it. I was a little concern that I would be disappointed with it.
Even if a production has good reviews it does not mean that it is any good. (Reviews on Amazon US site)
BUT I'm glad to report that this production is worth every penny.
If you enjoyed Little Women you will also enjoy this production.
It is a made for TV so it is a budget film but a really nice movie
about love, loyalty and with a Cinderella ending.
This movie is clean, however does has some mild profanity.
Which could concern some people looking for family friendly movies.
