I remember reading a couple of reviews by critics for this film when it was first released in cinemas that were absolutely effuse with praise. It was heralded as the most innovative horror of recent years etc etc. I can imagine for the average cinema-goer it may well be, but as a some-time fan of Stephen King who's read a couple of his novels and seen quite a few more television adaptations of stories such as `The Langoliers' and `Storm of the Century', I'd have to admit to a fraction of disappointment in the beginning with the introduction of the all too familiar set-up of characters and plot, as in those other stories that I'd previously read & viewed from the mind of this prolific author. But despite recognising the King-conventions in ... Read More:

You may laugh a lot you may laugh a little it doesn't matter this is a must for all fans of brit flicks.
I watched it for it's entertainment value and the fact that alan tudyk starred in it portraying a brit since he really shined in 'a knights tale' with heath ledger he is sure to become a household name in the future (watch this space).
I enjoy a film 10 times more if you get the feeling that the cast really enjoyed making this film with eachother which clearly comes across here.
What seems like a normal family funeral soon goes awry with the arrival of a short unwelcome guest and accidental drug usage takes place how will they all come together so that daniel can read his uledgy at last.
I gave it 4 stars purely because the laughs ... Read More:

Excellent suspense, I watched this without knowing anything about the film or story whatsover and that made it all the better. Please dont watch the preview video clip on here, it will give away the whole reason the events are taking place!

I won't provide a synopsis as there is already one provided on Amazon.
I got this on US import in a 2 disc edition which contains the original version and a black and white version of the film (Frank Darabont wanted to release it in black and white but the studio was not happy with this idea, "the kids" don't "get" black and white apparently!!)and I would definitely recommend tracking this edition down. The film itself is most definitely a homage to '50's and '60's monster B-movies, and does not take itself too seriously, but is obviously made with great care and love by Darabont. The effects are not top notch, but that really doesn't matter as you find yourself so engrossed in the panic of the characters and their interactions with each other. It has been said many times, but the ending is ... I saw this film once, it was quite amusing and reasonably well written, and cameron shines up nicely. However, I have no great desire to see it again, which I suppose is damning it with faint praise- however, it is a good girls night in film, so I'm a bit biased I guess.

This is one of the great romantic movies; perhaps the best movie of Frank Capra's career; probably the best of Ronald Colman's. It runs about 2 hours and 34 minutes and never seems slow, even in the reflective scenes.

Robert Conway (Ronald Colman), a diplomat and soldier, his brother and three others escape on the last plane out of a war-torm Chinese town. The plane is highjacked and heads for the Himilayas, where it crashes. The crew is dead, the passengers stranded in freezing weather and deep snow. A band of natives appears with warm clothing, rescues them and they set out on a long trek. Eventually they come to a nearly inaccessible crevice in the mountains. They go through and find a valley that is warm and green, with people working cooperatively and happily, where streams run ... Read More:

I remember watching this film when it came out, and was absorbed by the suspense and surprise, yet random 'deaths' that occurred throughout. In typical fashion, I lent it off a mate at school, who I'm sure we all knew one, had dad who was a bit dodgy... and had the pirate copy on VHS. It was a big talking point, and we all laughed over various parts of the film.

Unfortunately, I personally don't think the film is half as good second time round. I'm sure it's not just me now that i'm older, but it seemed the more I tried to take it all in, the less convincing it all is. Sammy L Jacksons grand killing scene is only good enough for a snigger, whereas I remember my mum jumping out of her skin originally. Even the CGI hasn't aged well, leaving the sharks roaming around like un-natural robots - ... Read More:

Like some poeple have already admitted, I'm not the biggest comic book buff and I do not know a great deal about the Punisher history. But I do like to think i know action films, and this barely was one...
I would in no way say this movie is bad, but i think the most appropriate word is "WEAK".

Eventhough I reckon Tom Jane probably was the best choice for the character, he could've been allowed to play the character alot darker. The man has a giant skull on his t-shirt for god's sake!
I mean, why the hell did he need 3 useless neighbour buddies...? They served no purpose entertainment value-wise. But only to show that Frank Castle was still a nice guy with morales (kinda going against the whole "Frank Castle is dead, I Am The Punisher...!).
And he showed no belivable remorse, just ... Read More:

Wow! If one word describes The Mist's ability to shock and scare the watcher then this is it. Contrary to some reviews I believe the script is very well thought out and interesting showing what happens when society breaks down and although the special effects start out a little bit on the cheap side they get better and better including a stunning sequence involving flying bugs. Unlike other horror movies it does sort of touch upon why it's happening and has an absolutely amazing ending that no-one would see coming. The americans didn't like the shock ending but is in complete contrast to other god awful endings. (No Country for old men and There will be Blood being prime examples!) This is a demonstration of how you end a film in style. It will leave you gobsmacked. This is not only the best horror movie of the year, ... Read More:
