Originally bought these films on video as they were released for my older children and they have been long-term favourites with all the family - so much so that I am now looking to buy them on DVD as our video tapes have seen better days, plus video player also on its last legs. My kids are almost word-perfect on certain scenes of the films! Their laughter is often in anticipation of scenes to come! Have enjoyed all, though family consensus is the the first one is the best.

Watching this exquisitely funny and painfully true parade of suburban nightmares, I realised that I had met at least six 'Beverleys'. I had encountered the same pretentious, insensitive, overbearing, condescending and brutish mannerisms. Alison Steadman embodies the lot; an eyeball-searing vision in orange nylon with a voice that can scape wax out of your inner ear!

For much of the play, I laughed at Beverley's indulgent glee in 'welcoming' her guests and hectoring her husband. For the last twenty minutes, I was holding my hands to my face and muttering 'God, no! God, please no!' at every ghastly verbal brickbat and physical impasse. It makes me wonder if Ricky Gervais and his 'Office' crew had this on a loop. David Brent's manners ... Read More:

Amazing that such a crapfest that was the first D&D movie should have a sequel that surpasses it in every way!

Good acting, solid D&D plot and nice digital effects.

I too was highly dubious about buying this after the utter crud of the first film but it exceeded all expectations. I don't even mean that this film is only good because it's better than the rubbish first, it's actually a GOOD fantasy film.

I'm writing this at 22.30 after just finishing the film and I'm a 41 yr old married family man, not a D&D teenage-fanatic! (Ok I used to be one....ok I still play occasionally...)

Anyway....

Don't be put off by the first film, give this one a try. I PROMISE you will be happy with your purchase ... Read More:

I have a lot of affection for this movie, not least because I was born and raised in Baltimore - although I was slightly younger in 1959 and lived on the other side of town. Baltimore is as much a character as any of the actors and the film lovingly recreates the city as I remember it.

Diner is about a bunch of guys who are never happier than when hanging out at the wonderfully nostalgic diner of the title. The emphasis is on atmosphere and character more than plot, although there are several memorable set pieces - most enjoyably in the cinema when Mickey Rourke's date finds a surprise in the popcorn.

The cast - the heart and soul of the film - are universally strong, except for Kevin Bacon's period lapses of overacting. The dialogue seems ... Read More:

okay, so a super brat is the star! but in my house Home alone 1+2 are traditional xmas viewing (three is okay... but 'too many cooks...')
The soundtrack to 1+2 is excellent, real Christmas stuff.

Despite Home Alone 1 being an absolute classic, I've always liked this better than the first. There's more of a story, more lovely scenes and more traps. I recommend both Home Alone 1 and 2, and possibly number 3. Enjoy! These are real Christmas treats!

I rented from lovefilm, no info with disc, no info on film bar short biography of cobham and playlist. The musicians dont get any vocal introduction on stage either. Music is of v.high standard. Hi-hat and bass guitar a bit too up in mix.I generally prefer music without singing, and despite the amazing soloing by each of these great musicians, with no vocal respite or proper breaks inbetween each piece, I began to get a little bored with the possibly overlong and indulgent playing and found myself wishing they had included some vocal piece just to break it up some! Still worth a listen though as there really is some great playing.
