I remember going to see this and I actually cried with laughter. It's so random and silly, you can't help but smile. We need to watch out for these villages eh? I'll be keeping an eye on my neighbours in future. ;)
I remember a few people criticised it and said it was completely pointless with no solid plotline whatsoever, but I believe that is the whole idea. It's not meant to, because that is the style of these actors and writers. However, that point cannot be applied to Run Fatboy, Run and Shaun of the Dead, as they did have a central storyline. The fact that Hot Fuzz appeared so spontaneous was what made you laugh.
Oh the whole drama with the swan, I was in agony with laughter- a perfect method of stopping the evil villain ... Read More:

A valiant and not entirely successful attempt at a very English 'thinking-man's' epic, Cromwell is one of the most interesting of the historical dramas of the early seventies - and also one of the most flawed.

The first third of the film is very ropey indeed, with banal dialogue full of stilted clichés (the best lines are from history, not Ronald Hardwood or Ken Hughes), a very mannered performance Richard Harris and a clumsy dilution of history. It is only too easy to think that the English Civil War was fought because Cromwell didn't get on with the King's wife and that it was won and lost on the outcome of two battles.

The first battle scene is surprisingly weak - even the extras die unconvincingly - and it is ... Read More:

DVD : James Bond - The Living Daylights (Ultimate Edition 2 Disc Set) [1987]
My personal favourite of all the Bond movies, Timothy Dalton's debut in the role is an original, hard-edged cold war adventure film with interesting characters, a believable plot, some strong acting (Joe Don Baker takes the honours), and a truly awesome final stunt sequence. And Dalton, though he has his detractors, is easily the closest to Fleming's original literary Bond; he plays the part as a professional spy, and not a playboy. One of the most underrated thrillers of the 1980s. Top marks.

DVD : James Bond - Licence to Kill (Ultimate Edition 2 Disc Set) [1989]
Expanding on his nearly humourless interpretation of Bond in the previous film, Dalton here takes the character one step further, presenting us with a borderline psychopath obsessed with violent revenge against the scumbags who targeted his friend Felix Leiter (David Hedison, encoring from Live And Let Die and by this point far too old for the role) and his new bride. Robert Davi (Die Hard), Anthony Zerbe (Papillon), Everett McGill (Twin Peaks) and a very young Benicio Del Toro play the bad guys, and there isn't a duff performance amongst them, whilst Carey Lowell is very good value as Dalton's love interest. Not a typical Bond film, and cerainly not one for the younger fans, it is nevertheless the best pure action movie in the series.

No movie sums up Christmas or brings back so many memories of Christmases Past than The Lion in Winter. It's 1183 and Henry II's let his wife out of prison to decide the succession at Christmas court in Chinon: he favors John, she favors Richard and nobody cares for Geoffrey. Cue daggers, plots and reopened wounds as everyone tries to kill everyone else and nobody gets what they wanted for Christmas. Part costume drama, part Who's Afraid of Eleanor of Aquitaine? as these jungle creatures scratch and claw at each other's weak spots and almost certainly a lot closer to history as it was lived than as it is written thanks to a truly great screenplay by James Goldman (who stumbled across the plot while researching a play about Robin Hood that would later become ... This is, by far, the best TV/film adaptation of Jane Eyre as it faithfully follows the book.

My only criticism would be that Timothy Dalton is too good-looking to be Rochester. Rochester is not supposed to be good-looking in the conventional way but has a certain 'something' that makes him attractive. There is an accusation that Rochester is too 'violent' in the scene before Jane leaves. If you watch this scene, and go back to the novel it perfectly captures Rochester's agony at the thought of Jane leaving him. It is Jane who has all the control in this scene, as throughout their relationship - 'never was anything at once so frail and so indomitable. A mere reed she feels in my hand!.....'If I tear, rend the slight prison, my outrage will only ... Read More:

As with George Lazenby, the brevity of Timothy Dalton's tenure as Bond - due to years of legal problems and lawsuits between EON and MGM/UA - has led to history merrily being rewritten by the press that once hailed him. Dalton, not the lawyers, was lined up as the fall guy with Pierce Brosnan the man who saved the series from disaster (even though Dalton's first Bond saw a massive increase in takings over Moore's last film). Those who are quick to dismiss him would do well to check out The Living Daylights.

Much of the scapegoating of Dalton seemed to come from the confusion of actor and role. At the time Dalton's Bond was the closest to Fleming's creation - more so than Connery, even - and given the right script he proved outstanding in the role. After ... Read More:

Although Moonraker is the popular fan favorite for worst Bond movie, Licence To Kill runs it a close second for some. Whereas the Moore films had a fairly gradual lowering of standards, the superiority of The Living Daylights made the drop in quality of LTK seem that much more dramatic. The lowest-grossing movie in the series' history, it's a classic case of the road to hell being paved with good intentions. "This time Bond bleeds," claimed the producers, promising a tougher, more credible Bond film only to lack the nerve to deliver on their promise. Instead they wimped out and delivered something distinctly half-hearted that adheres to many of the weakest elements of the Bond formula but which throws out much of what makes Bond himself Bond in a disastrously counterproductive ...
