I really enjoyed this film. Like a good French meal, the flavours build up in subtle beguiling layers. Great setting of Paris and an irresistible combination of sexy, French, laid back hero and uptight, American heroine. This combo has been done before in Green Card, but the plot here is completely different and has a fresh feel to it. The friction between the characters unfolds beautifully into a frisson and then passion thru the conduit of the accidental kiss. Having already heard the characters respective opinions on kissing, this is quite enchanting. Initially, we come to know Kate's (Meg Ryan) story in a light comical fashion. I was honestly not expecting much from this film. The storyline looked pretty depressing but I still felt like I was missing something so I decided to watch it. How happy was I when I'd finished watching it! It was a great and heartwarming film with good performances from the cast and a comic stance which I loved! I'd really recommend this film to anyone who wants to see someone enjoy the time they have on earth as much as they can.

This film is really really good, namely because of its message, how love innocence, trust, faith, courage are a much more powerful force than most adults realise, this film holds the message of honoring the wisdom and Spirit inherant in all children, in the bible it says " ye must become like little children to enter the kingdom of heaven," which i believe is a direction to honor the child like ability to believe to trust and to unconditionally love with courage and innocence, this film is an empowering film for children and highly enjoyable for the whole family, it affirms and recognises the great wisdom and power we can find in our children , and how sometimes the great mysteries of life can so profoundly be understood by children, yet completely ... Give this show a chance. It has great actors and an intricate and exciting plot full of characters that are not what they seem. As in "Damages", you don't always know who to trust. It's one riveting story over the course of a season, neatly wrapped up at the end.

Whilst most of the reviews have said it all I still felt moved to add my 2 cents worth. Starting slowly and gently I was immediately comfortable with this movie but wondering if it was going to go anywhere. Perhaps it might lull you into a false sense of security and then explode into violence. There is humour and wit aplenty but for me it wasn't a comedy, more a tale of love and friendship and a healthy dose of real life. The characters are all immediately recognisable, be they American, British, or from any part of the world. The word comfortable returns again and gradually I was drawn into their small town world and felt like I lived there and wanted to know these people.
